Part I - Thrakhath's Wrath

Prologue: Unexplained Disaster

Stardate 2663.152
Enigma System


"Starfire, this is Moonhopper. Any hostiles detected?" said the wingleader.
"Negative Moonhopper. My scanners are clear" responded the wingman.
"Alright. Let's head for the next NAV point and..."
The comm links suddenly interrupted their conversation. "Mayday! Mayday!
This is the TCS Kyoto! We're under attack! Shields are out! We're taking heavy..."
"WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?" shouted the wingman.
"TCS Kyoto, this is Moonhopper of Alpha Wing. Do you copy?" said the wingleader.
Silence.
"DAMN IT TCS KYOTO!!! DO YOU COPY!?!?!?" yelled the wingleader.
"What in the world is going on?" asked the bewildered wingman.
"No..." the wingleader whispered in a broken tone.
"We've got to get back to them" said the wingman.
"Uh, alright." The wingleader paused. "Changing course back to base"

The two rapiers return to their starting NAV point only to find a horrofying discovery.
"What? It can't be!" the wingman gasped, after seeing the charred remains of their
carrier, the TCS Kyoto.
"No... Mamo-Chan... please... don't... be..." the wingleader murmured, and was choking
on tears so much she couldn't finish her sentence.
"I've contacted the TCS Yokohama. We have no choice but to go there."
"Mamo-Chan..."
"USAGI!!! ARE YOU LISTENING!?!?!?" the wingman yelled over her comm-link.
"I... I'm sorry... Rei"
"Look, there's nothing we can do here now. We have to head for the Yokohama and make a
report. To be honest I'm worried about him too."
"Uh... okay" said the wingleader, now crying. "Let's... let's get out of here" said
the wingleader, before hitting the autopilot.



On board the Ralatha class Destroyer Hhai'fra, flagship of Prince Thrakhath of the Kilrathi Empire

"Kazrath, what is our progress in the war?" asked the Crown Prince of the Kilrathi Empire.
"We have successfully repulsed a possible invasion of the Niven system, my Lord. The Kyoto
has been destroyed." replied the first officer.
"That is good. Still, does Mau pose a problem to us?"
"Yes, my Lord. The planet has joined Ghorah Khar in the rebellion."
"This is revolting! The planet was supposed to be the next seat of worship of Sivar! The Emperor
will be very displeased! Prepare our forces to retake the planet."
"Yes my lord!"
