I'm searching for my father and his family.

I was born in Napia in July 1981 and came to Australia with my mother in 1982.
my father left not long after arriving in Australia and I haven't heard from
him since.

His name is
  Richard John Wilson
  DOB:15/07/1952-8

and from what I understand his mother was Maori and his father English.
He has a brother, John, who married Patti.
He met my mother in NZ when she was on holidays with her sisters about 1980.
My mum's name is Jeannie.

Anyone with any information please email me. Hope to hear from someone soon

Love and Peace

Kia Ora nga Iwi o tenei Panui Papa.

I am a descendant of
Maruapu Tainui, who was my Great Grandkoro. My Grandnana's name was
  Lucy Te Kiwa Tainui-Wade.

She was married to
Johnny Katene who was killed. She later married my Grandkoko known as
  Thomas Wade.

I have whanau connecttion's to the Cooper Whanau through Nanny Tiraha Cooper,
Te Kiwa's mother was
Te Waarani aka Te Arani Koniria,

to the best of my knowledge she is buried at Whatapaka Marae Ki Waikato.
My nanny Kiwa was sent as a teen to look after an old kaumatua who lived at
Te Awamarahi Marae Tekohanga. Since that time Te Awamarahi has been regarded
as our Papa Kainga or Home Marae.

I am looking for info on my tipuna and heritage. About 14 years ago Carmen
Kirkwood o Whatapaka Marae wrote a whakapapa on the Te Whanau o Ted Kirkwood,
who is whanui to me. In that script there was an entry of Maruapa and his descendants

I have recently come back from Aotearoa, On my visit to our sacred Maunga O Taupiri
it became very clear to me that I must have this knowledge basket to pass down to my Tamariki.

I thank you for listening to my request and look forward to hearing from anyone
who may be able to help me.

Kia Ora
Noho oro mai.

Names of Tamati Waka Nene's children? - Pickering?

August 28, 2001

We have been told that my late father in law was a descendant of Tamati Waka Nene.
We believe his descendancy came through his grandmother Mary Elizabeth Pickering.

I am unable at this time to complete the link, does any one know of any other
descendants or someone who can help? I am trying to put together a family history
and would welcome any help.

Thank you, please email me if you can help.

Tena koe Anne,

RE: "TAMATI WAKA NENE"... Are you referring to the Ngapuhi chief, or is this
another person totally different with the same name? If this is the Tamati Waka
Nene of Ngapuhi fame, who was also the younger brother of Eruera Maihi Patuone
that you refer to, it appears he left no issue according to the family-tree I
have in front of me. The family-tree I have is based on the descendants of the
"HANLEY" families, who were early settlers in Kororareka-Russell.... but don't
let me deter you.... maybe someone else can shed more light on this than me.

Good Luck with your quest!!

Regards!
Mr H J Hakaraia.

Hiya

Last week I found IHAPERA (first christian wife of TW Nene) had been buried up
at Mangungu WES Mission Station along with her daughter, Annie BARTON (Patene),
who had married Wiremu Patene in 1837 in the Mangungu WES Mission records.

Both women married, died and buried in 1837. Whether Annie was TW Nene's child
I dont know.

Is the book that you have available to the general public or a private study?

Thanks for your reply.
I don't know who in my husbands family came up with this connection, (Tamati) but
the next name I have is Rihi Moengaherehere she is Mary Elizabeth Pickerings mother.
I believe Rihi was a signatory to the Treaty, but other than her marriage in Rawene
I can't find out more about her eg; tribe etc. Can you help?

Tena Koutou Katoa.....

I write in anticipation that someone somewhere may be able to help me.
I have recently discovered that Ngati Haua had a chief called Ngakuku and
that Ngakuku Descends from Hakaraia.

My fascination with this is that both these names are in my family and that
we also descend from tupuna by these names.

Ngakuku had a daughter by the name of Te Aorere, who was killed when he was
travelling back from Tauranga over the Kaimai's.

I ask if anyone could shed light on this matter I would be most thankful....
I'm wanting to find out the connection between Ngakuku of Ngati Haua and
Ngakuku of Ngati Whakaue from whom I descend..... It is to uncanny for the
similarity in names and no connection.... We are the Ahomiro Whanau....
So if you can help.... Please do....
