Dear Leanne
Hi!

I came across this website by accident!
We may be connected as my grandfather Nehuora Te Warahi(Wallace) I believe lived in Pipiriki.
I know we have relatives in Wanganui and the connection is that my grandfather's father had
two wives (twin sisters). First wife no issue, married the second sister got issue and then
had issue to the first wife eventually.

I come from Taumarunui. Our name was anglicised to Wallace. There is a family of McLeods
(farmers) from my hometown who may be connected to you also I dont know. Are you an only
child?

Cheers

Valma

Kia ora,
My knowledge of Riperata Kahutia, is found in one of the history books that you will probably find in any library to do with Early Hawkes Bay or the Gisbourne area. I cannot recall the title of the book, but there was some extensive information on Riperata in there. The knowledge I gained was that she had married Paratene Turangi. She was also a very wealthy woman and it was written that she sold land to the crown for a mere 200 pounds,
the land of which Gisbourne city now stands. She also had a daughter Heni Materoa whom later became Lady Carroll, marrying Sir James Carroll.
There is much more information that was written and if I can recall the name of the book I assure you that I will contact you again, assuming that you have been unable to locate it yourself.
I hope this bit of information is useful to you, as that is all I can recall at this time.
Kia ora

Her name was Harete Taitua from Cape runaway and I think she was of the Waenga whanau, she married Joe Karauna (snr).

Could you please email me even if it's not familiar. And I am also curious if you know of any Walker's from around the Te Araroa area.
