The Squires
The Squires
Following tratition of the Knights of old, boys become pages around the age of 7 or 10. They are really just the errand boys of the castle. Around 11 or 15, depending on their skills that they learned while pages, they are assigned a knight and become a squire, the knights attendent. If the knight has paired to a drak, the squire is also required to take care of the drak if the creature stays at the castle often (not all draks remain at Khayr Rukan if they are Kemesh-born).
A squire does not have to pair with a drak to be a knight - that rank is cerimonial after great deeds - ect, ect, ect (I am assuming you all know about this from, oh, History Class...which was my favorite, obviously). Since Khayr Rukan, Kemesh and Malla have been 'discovered', other castle riders are allowed to search for potentioal aspirants from the squires as well as civilans. No Knight is allowed to be searched. Below is a list of squires and civlians that have been searched for other castles.
