Throughout history, armies around the world have incorporated drill as a vital tool to train and strengthen their soldiers both mentally and physically. The precision and timing of drill not only promote skill and teamwork, but military discipline. Drill is believed to be the BACKBONE of military discipline. In addition to discipline, military drill teaches and develops: self confidence, team work, personal pride, unit pride, and organization.

The Drill Team at Wyandanch Memorial High School is trained by First Sergeant Bell. His Drill Team is highly competitive and rewarding. Drill cadets are taught to work as a team in order to build confidence and discipline. The cadets build trust in themselves, their weapon and establish a sense of pride in their accomplishments and their company's accomplishments. With the drill season beginning in early October and ending around Spring, in addition to many hours a week training and practicing, the Drill Team demands alot of dedication and personal sacrifices.
