REVIEW: CORNERSHOP SINGLE

Lessons Learned From Rocky I To Rocky III

It may sound Primal Scream-ish but it definitely has that Cornershop bass “thing” happening which will take you back five years when “Brimful of Asha” was a hit.

It may not get daytime airplay due to its Parental Guidance bad language in the chorus but I don’t see why that should make a difference, it is not as if you can understand what Tjinder is singing anyway!

For the many Indie-freaks out there, this Anglo-Asian phenomenon is proving not to be a one-hit-wonder. But, if you are not an Indie-freak, you are going to be quite disappointed with “Lessons Learned from Rocky I to Rocky III”.

Whereas remixing made “Brimful of Asha” a success in 1997, the bands recent comeback single has not undergone such masterful digital enhancement.

If you only got into Indie music because of “Brimful of Asha”, then forget it. Otherwise you will probably think that this single is fantastic and you will probably be counting down the days until 1 April when the bands new album, Handcream for a Generation, is released.
