Meet The Family
PRINCESS SQUEEKY II
Princess is the daughter of Lady Bast, born the spring of 1998, is definatly proof of rein-cat-nation.
In the fall of 1997, a few weeks before Lady Bast arrived on the front verandah, old Princess Squeeky passed over to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 16 solar years. She was black and white, and nuts all under.. and we lovingly refered to her as our CrazyKat.
The next spring came the kittens. The smallest one was a tiny black and white girl, so tiny that I did not think that this baby would survive. But she did, and she was named Maggie. The kitten hated the name. As she grew strong and healthy, Maggie refused to acknowledge that this was her name. Her siblings had no problems, so we were concerned about the little girl.
Then to make things even stranger, the kitten started to do things just
as
the old girl had done. Don had taught the old girl as a kitten to go onto
his lap at mealtime and take food from a particular spot on his plate, or
off of his fork if the fork was in a particular spot. The kitten was doing
this without a second thought. This was not the only old trick that the
new cat knew.. and she would only respond to the names 'Princess' or
'Squeeky'. So Princess Squeeky.. aka CrazyKat the Second came to stake
her claim as the head Queen of the family.
- Panther
..the cat came back, they thought she was a goner, but the cat came back the very next spring..

PANTHER - Mr. Adorable
My son Panther is a compact muscular black cat who earned
title of "Mister Adorable" by being the most adorable kitten in the world. As an adult he is aloof to other cats and strange humans but he adores Phyllis and is very open with his affection for her.
He grew up under the guidence of Master Mao and became his
rightpaw tomcat, and enforcer when needed. Panther prefurred to cuddle his human than fight, but he was given his position while Danny Dancer and I fought each other for the status. Mao got fed up with our bickering and once Mao bestowed #2 tomcat rank onto Panther, we decided to stop fighting.
Together Mao and Panther chased many the dog from the yard and kept the rest of the cat family safe from harm. Panther had experience with dogs since he was a kit. Our neighbor had a stupid Irish Wolfhound pup named "Jethro Bonehead", after Jethro Bodine of the Beverly Hillbillies. Jethro had a game that he loved. He would watch for Panther asleep in the yard, then Jethro would sneak up on Panther. When he got close, Jethro would go down on his belly and crawl as close to Panther as he dared. Then Jethro would bark! Panther would jump straight up in fright, and come down after Jethro's head. I admit, it was fun to watch. Most of the time Panther landed on Jethro's head and he's go for a ride while boxing the dog's ears. When Jethro managed to evade the guided missle of enraged claws and fangs Panther would chase Jethro until he ran himself out or caught the dog.
After a good chase Panther and Jethro were sometimes spotted asleep together on the back step of Jethro's humans house, if there was a sunbeam available.
When Panther was a teenager, he learned to hunt birds. Like most teenagers his opinion of his skills was not quite in touch with reality, and this nearly proved to be a most costly mistake for my young and inexperienced son.
Panther was presented with an opportunity he just could not resist when Phyllis threw out several bags of freezer burned bread for the birds on the back
lawn one winter's day.
The local murder of crows came first, then yeilded ground to the local flock of seagulls.. but there was plenty to go round for everyone. Panther thought he was in cat-heaven as he slowly and carefully approached the unwary birds. In a blinding burst of speed he grabbed a juvenile gull.. jumping on it's back while attempting to sink his fangs into one wing. The surprised gull let out a yell and attempted
to fly off with Panther on it's back. I don't know who was more surprised,
Panther or the gull. As the bird rose in the air Panther baled-off, only
to face the wrath of the adults of the flock. Thanks to his fear enchanced speed Panther
was able to reach safety under a car while the gulls shreeked insults
above.
Meanwhile, from the safety of the diningroom window, Master Mao watched
Panther's adventure unfold. Mao was chuckling at it all.
Panther took both crows and seagulls off of his list of prey that day.

MAOMAU
MaoMau is son of Dori. He was born in March of 2000, eight weeks after the death of Master Mao. Because of his spots he was named in memory of the Master.
MaoMau is all Mau (or should I say Mao?). He is a fun loving fellow who is completely devoted to his human, Phyllis. He and Panther vie for the attention of Phyllis and for choice bed space. Those two guys are good at sending the each other flying off the bed due to a well placed right hook or body check. Panther is ticked off having MaoMau try to pick up where Master Mao left off... Panther became top tomcat when Master Mao died and is not willing to give his status up to a youngster.
MaoMau is good with his paws. There isn't a cupboard door he can't open, or a book for that matter.
He is an excellent big brother to the kittens of the household. MaoMau loves to play and doesn't have to be reminded to be gentle with little ones.

GARFIELD
Garfield was a cute kitten (by his photo anyways) who grew up to be a big-big, fat orange fellow
who loves pasta.
He's an easy
going fellow for the most part, but he is not a fellow you want to have
annoyed with you. He is special in his ability to purr for hours while
asleep.
Nicknamed Sumo-kitty, he is amazingly agile and
strong for a cat of his size.
True to his name Garfield is a cat who hates diets. Where we
live, most cats are able to go outside in a very cat friendly neighborhood.
Garfield has many friends and whenever the humans try to put him on a diet at home he
simply goes out to eat. I am told that he was a slim fellow until his visit to the vet's for a snip job.

Princess Shadow
Shadow is daughter of Princess SqueekyII. Like her mother, Shadow has a long body and a very long tail to go with it. When mother and daughter are together a person can't help but recall the "Lady and the Tramp" tune... "We are Siamese if You Please.." as their tails wave and curl.

*SPOOKY'S STORY*
...In his own words..
The last part of December 1996 brought with it a storm system that dumped record amounts of snow to our part of the world. I was but a baby then, just a few months old. The humans I was with didn't seem to notice at all when I snuck out with them one day in early January.. they caught the tip of my tail in the door crushing the end. That really hurt, and I ran as fast and as far as I could trying to get away from that terrible pain in my tail. I ran between piles of cold white stuff that froze my baby paws. I ran until I could run no farther, and when I stopped running I was lost and alone.
I was frightened. I didn't know how to get home. My tail tip had stopped bleeding but it throbbed. The cold of the white stuff had my paws numb, and I couldn't stop shivering. My fine, thin black baby fur was not ment for freezing tempretures. I was hungry too. I cried for my momma and for my humans.. but no one came to find me. I knew I had to find shelter somewhere.. but everything was hidden under piles of that white stuff the humans call snow.
I don't remember how long I looked for a building, but finally I did find one. I couldn't find any way in.. but I found some stairs leading up, so up I went. It was colder up there on the sidewalk. I had hoped for a covered place, but all there was was more sidewalk and more closed doors and more wind and cold. I couldn't beleive my luck when I saw that boxy thing with legs on the sidewalk. It had a sheltered area under it that I could hide in away from the wind.
The next day I heard a sound outside of my hiding place. Human voices! I didn't know if I should be happy or scared... but in truth I was both. I was weak and cold. Then a human started poking about my shelter.. he called it a desk... and he found me. Such a nice human.. he tucked me inside of his coat to get warm and got me some milk to drink. After a bit he took me to his home.
I was still shivering while inside the warm coat with the nice human.. I just could not stop. I could not stop being scared or cold, but I knew that if I stayed in the coat I would be alright. The human took me home with him.
What a sight I must have been when Don, the human, took me to see his wife, Phyllis. I was an akward looking fellow with a thin face, short black fur, big ears and large bright yellow eyes. Don had opened his coat a ways and I poked my head up to see what was going on. Phyllis laughed.. saying I looked like a spooked Hallowe'en cat. From then on I have been called Spooky. The name suits me. I have to admit that I do 'spook' easily, and my fur will stand on end not just on my back but all over my body. Talk about having bad fur days.
Back to my story..
The kind humans took me in and took care of me. I never thought I'd ever
get warm again.. but by the next summer I did. No trace could be found of
the house that I came from.. no one looked for me. So I joined the family
of my rescuer and have been here ever since. Garfield took a liking to me
right away, and took on the job of raising me. I got the nickname of 'Ninja
Kitten' because I was small, thin, black and fast, and I liked to wrestle
with Garfield. I claimed the human called Chris as my main pet and he's
rather attached to me too. In time my tail tip healed, but it will always
have a blunt tip to it.

~ Those Who Love Cats ~
Those who love cats which do not even purr,
Or which are thin and tired and very old,
Bend down to them in the street and stroke their fur
And rub their ears and smooth their breast, and hold
Their paws, and gaze into their eyes of gold.

Sir Tiger Tail
Tiger Tail is my littermate-brother. Son of Lady Bast, his father is a big Himalayan tomcat that visits the neighborhood now and then. Tiger's stripped facial markings make his big blue eyes look more crossed than they are. Like Spooky, Tiger has a broken tail tip.. but Tiger's Tail was that way at birth. The stripes on his tail gave him his name. Our sister, Gidget, was also born color-point and those tail stripes of Tiger's were the first different markings to develop between the two. He was called the kit with the Tiger's Tail and the name fit and stuck.
Danny Dancer took an interest in Tiger as a kit, and took him under paw for gigilo training as only Danny could do. As Master Mao passed head tomcat honors onto Panther, Danny passed head gigilo honors to Tiger Tail. Danny also taught Tiger the fine art of the yowl. Tiger hasn't mastered yowling yet, but if he keep practicing he should have it down pat in another year or so.
By the way, our sister Gidget adopted Melody, daughter of Phyllis and Don, as soon as she was able to see her.

PEPPERCORN
Peppercorn is a pretty calico who likes to flurt with the boys.. no
matter that she's been to the vets as well. Her main color is white, with
a tabby mask that covers her ears and eyes, leaving a white muzzle and
pink nose to look so very cute. She looks as if she walked out of a
Japanese
artwork. Her back has a calico-tabby splotch blanket over it, that extends
to cover her tail in tabby stripes. She is a very pretty girl and she
knows it. She has a coy way of wiggling her head that makes it seem like
her neck is really a spring. Such a flurt!
Peppercorn owns Don, and he knows it. If Peppercorn could make the rest of us vanish, she would. In a tail-flick. She had a crush on Master Mao and he liked to make passes at her. She would even share sunbeams with me. Peppercorn was crushed at Mao's death, so much that she has refused to get close to any of the rest of us ever since. Oh, she will play with us in the yard, but in the house it's another matter. She prefers Don's room as her exclusive domain. (Luckally for her, Don and Phyllis have seperate rooms. When they shared a bedroom it wasn't so easy for us to get bed-time with them)

~ The Cat's Prayer ~
O my Master,
Do not expect me to be your slave, I have a thirst for freedom.
Do not probe my secret thoughts, I have a love of mystery.
Do not smother me with caresses, I have a preference for reserve.
Do not humiliate me, I have a sense of pride.
Do not, I beg,, abandon me, I have a sure fidelitry.
I'll return your love for me, I have a sense of true devotion.
