If you have more than a few snakes it is very helpful to have a snake rack. Just about any multiple shelved metal or wood stand can be utilized, however some people buy custom built racks or build their own. I myself use a Wiretech shelving unit with 7 shelves (picture isn't most recent). I like this system because I can buy and add extra shelves, its strong, and its metal (less of a fire hazard??). To make the shelves better able to hold my snake boxes and keep the flexwatt on a flat surface I set a piece of cut plexiglass on each shelf. All my snake "boxes" are slightly raised (not directly on flexwatt) by stick on vynil "legs" (if the box doesn't have any "legs" of its own). This is also done to reduce fire hazard. Each snake box has been drilled with adequate air holes and have tight fitting lids. In some cases I have added velcro as a secondary measure to provent escape (had enough of that!). All in all this rack works great for me. It is completely full at the moment. This summer I plan to build some specialized racks of my own.
