Bad Pagan, No Biscuit

Why is it that, in the minds of most people, (and certainly their own) Xtians are viewed as "good", "right", "morally superior", and "decent people"? Why do these same people turn around, with that smug look on thier face, and dare to call me (simply because I am pagan) "troublemaker", "hate monger", "evil", and various other highly offensive things? I am a pagan, yes, evil, though? Why is that? Because I will not submit myself to this "merciful" god, who would rather abuse, kill, and torment his "children" than teach them with anything resembling the kind parental way that his followers seem to attribute to him. Why, when I mention the fact that I am pagan, am I asked to "Give up [your] hate, and return to god". Wait a minute here, just hold the damn phone...hate? Whom do I hate? Why do I have to hate them becaues I am pagan? Do I hate their god? Is that what they think? Do xtians truely believe we are driven to Paganism by bad experiences?

Now, while my parents did drag me to church every week, and all but forced me to attend youth activities, they are no part of the reason I became a pagan. (I had quite a few friends at church, and even occasionally enjoyed it) I became pagan because I found nothing in the xtian doctrines that I could even begin to agree with. No, I am not talking solely about what they teach, I also refer to the tendancy, through time (and even still today) of preaching love and acceptance, and then tormenting, raping, abusing, or killing those who cannot agree with them. I knew I was different when I was a small child. Going to church, and hearing the things they taught and said, just did not feel right. I was 8 years old. Even that young, it did not feel right to submit myself to this sexist, patriarchial sysetem of religeon.

I would never have been able to allow some amorphous god to dictate my course of living, and thinking. I also knew that I could not dedicate myself to the supposed "duty" of women: Home, Family, and the production of many small ones to continue my husband's line. What about my duty to myself? What about my line? What about the simple biological fact that it takes both parties to create proginy ... or at least a reputable doctor. Yes, (surprising to many) I support that theory ... and no, I am not a feminist, I am a humanist. However, if the early xtians did not think that men were superior to women, why in the Goddess' name would there be so many begattings ... by men ... of men in the bible. Where did the mothers of these "great" men come into the picture? In the back of the chariot, with thier piss-drunk husband on top, doin the nasty, with absolutely no coice in the matter.

Ok, now that I have truly pissed you off, I will have to add that I do not think that it is wrong for those who choose to believe in it. So, why do I rant about all this? Well, I do have a couple of reasons. 1. To piss you off, and make you really think 2. I am sick of the idiocy that goes around with the statement: "my religion is right, and you're going to hell if you don't change" Well, I say to those who think that way, kudos to you ... wonderful ... out of the millions of religions out there, you happen to have stumbled onto the ONE RIGHT RELIGION. Bravo, hooray for you. Now, the only problem with this thinking, is that almost every religion thinks they are the right one. You all belive in the same basics. You all belive in the same god ... What is the point of fighting over the details? Why should anyone go to war for thier religion? Why would you want to kill someone for simply not believing the same way you do?

I cannot understand the religeous right (reich?), and their attempt to tell everyone how they can act, or what they should want for thier lives. How can anyone dare to say, "My faith/way is right, and yours is false/wrong, and therefore evil"? How can anyone say this? No one alive can, or ever will have irrefutable proof that thier way is correct. All I, or anyone else can say is: "This way is right for me at this time". Most people don't, or will not allow themselves to realize it, but this is the way even (state/city/country) laws are made. Looking back on history will tell you that laws are always made this way. They are chosen on the basis of what the bulk of that society believes is right at that time.

I'm not prostheletyzing for paganism here ... not my job ... no, I'm just trying to do what I can to let people see my way of thinking ... though most likely this site will only be seen by my friends ;) . Again, I wouldn't dare to tell you what to belive, think, or do. No one has the right to dictate that ... not family ... not friends ... not your president! It is rude ... antisocial! NEVER, if you wish to live your life as well as you can, NEVER let anyone tell you how to live it. Live, learn, teach, work, and BE in such a way that you can be happy with yourself, and your life. That is my greatest hope for our benighted world.

Bright Blessings,
