* The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously

* The flag should be flown from sunrise to sunset outside, but may be displayed at night if lighted

* It should never touch anything on the ground, floor, tables, etc.

*No other flag should be placed above the flag of the United States, or if on the same level, to its right

*In a meeting room or auditorium, the flag should be placed to the right of the speaker as he/she faces the audience.  Any other flags should be placed to the left of the podium (to the right of the audience)

* Whe displayed horizontally or vertically against a wall, the stars should be uppermost and at the observer's left

*The flag should mever be used as a costume or tablecloth, or to cover a float or vehicle

* When the flag is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem, it should be destroyed in a dignified, patrtiotic way, preferably by burning.  Local fire companies and the American Legion often collect used flags for appropriate disposal

*  On Memorial Day, the flag should be flown at half-staff until noon, then raised to full staff
