Ulster Militaire was held on May 12th in the Dundonald Ice Bowl in East Belfast. Gloriously sunny weather combined with the F.A. cup final resulted in a lower than usual turnout. The games present were appreciated by the visitors, a large proportion of whom appeared to have an interest in wargaming.
The show is well worth attending, with a collection of well presented games. A number of the groups present will be participating in Wolfhound, including Chris Caves, whose Tarawa game is illustrated below.
Games included Napoleonic, American War of Independence (2), World War Two (2) and Medieval.

The
Wild Geese put on a late American Civil War/Wild West participation game.  Whilst the Dublin games scene was also represented by Wayne Lennox & Gerry Lynch, who put on an American War of Independence game.
Paul has supplied some photographs of the model of the 16th century siege of Cahir castle. The figures are 15mm Freikorps, painted by Ray Haskins. Paul has been involved in the design of the new exhibition in Cahir castle, Co Tipperary, but tells me that we will not be allowed to play with the models. Shame. If you're travelling around Ireland this Summer, why not include Cahir in your plans.(Click on photos to enlarge.)

The Irish Model Soldier Society held its Annual show in the Garda Club on May 27th. It is an excellent, central venue, which serves a decent pint. A cheerful friendly crown was present and the standard of items on display was high.
The IMSS will be present at Wolfhound  and the picture below show give some indication of the quality to expect.
Tom Carter and Dave Levins of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Re-enactment group attended a ceremony at Ypres in Flanders in May 2001.
They found the event very educational and enjoyable and plan future trips. They are pictured left (kneeling 4th & 5th from right) with other re-enactors.
This group will be present at Wolfhound for its first "Home" event.
