We Have A Story For You!

And we need your support! Please read on...
A short while ago, Audrey and Russ Fuller of Alden purchased the Masonic Hall near the Gazebo in Alden.
They planned to turn it into a cafe to serve light lunches and desserts, and to open it several evenings a month to
provide a coffee house, with music, open mike nights, ect.
They invited ACTS to transform the upper floor into a theater!
What this would mean for ACTS is:
1) more flexible scheduling for rehearsal times;
2) more show dates--being able to keep a production running two or three weekends in a row;
3) being able to have a place to run a theater school for children in the summer and adult classes in the evenings;
4) less wear and tear on our equipment--and our bodies--from moving everything up and down onto the stage between each rehearsal;
5) constant visibility in the community--a permanent sign and box office;
6) the increase prestige and recognition of ACTS as a legitimate theater company (and therefore, more involvement from the wider Western New York theater community.)
Obviously, this would be a good thing for ACTS--and we believe that it would be good for the community as well, putting Alden "on the map" culturally.

However, the Fuller's application for a zoning variance was turned down.
The street, Church Street, is zoned residential..even though there are only three houses on it,
and two of them are multi-family apartments (the third is the Masonic Hall). All are within eyesight of many businesses.
So, friends, it's time to write a letter!
