Ok so I'm a bit prejudice about the kind of dog I like. Can't help it, I couldn't have bought a better dog and better yet I found Spook. Yup, found her in the graveyard up behind our house. Hey that's how she got her name. She was howling like a ghoul from the graveyard.
The following pages are information on the Australian Cattle Dog(ACD) and the Australian Shepherd(AS). Although they have many similarities, they aren't the same breed of dog. Slight changes in the breeding of the orginals is was has made the difference. Additionally, AS are born with tails that are docked. ACD are born both ways. Australian Stubby-tailed Cattle Dogs (ASCD) are soon to be recognized as a separate breed altogether.
No matter if you are looking for a dog for companionship or as a working dog, Aussie dogs are hard to beat!! They are tuff, smart and extreemly loyal to their owners.
If you are considering an Aussie, PLEASE, be sure to check out a reputable breeder. These dogs have become extreeemly popular and there are many "puppy millers " out there cashing in. These "puppy millers" are breeding genetic defects into the breed, which is causing puppies being born with severe disabilities, ie., blindness and deafness.
