ADC Kill Figures

The information contained in this section is NOT fictional!
All statistics and figures are as reported by ADC to the General Accounting Office
________________

The following figures are for fiscal year 1997, totalled in the following states:
Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska,
Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota,
Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming
These figures do NOT reflect the number of Non-Target animals killed.
Non-Target = Animals unintentionally killed by ADC.

 TOTAL NUMBER OF WILDLIFE KILLED
In all states above combined

Coyote - 82,142

Fox - 5,539

Bobcat - 1,841

Badger - 654

Bear - 318

Mountain Lion - 320

"Coyotes are Wildlife Services' target of choice, and most of them
are killed by Aerial Gunning and M-44's. Aerial Gunning, or shooting from aircraft, is frequently used for "preventative" coyote control, whereby WS
agents kill as many as they can prior to livestock entering an area
(not just presumed guilty before proven innocent, but presumed guilty and promptly shot!).
Despite Wildlife Services' claims that the program only targets depredating
animals, it does the majority of it's killing using these two methods, which do not descriminate between depredating individuals and all other predators on the landscape."

To say that ADC agents get a report from someone regarding coyotes
being a nuisance, then get on a plane, go out and randomly shoot ANY coyotes in the area is an accurate statement.

Click HERE , or below, for a tableized breakdown of the number of
target AND non-target animals killed by ADC over a four year period (1988-1991).
Target = Those animals which ADC intended to kill
Non-Target = Those which were unintentionally killed
** Due to the fact that only a small portion of kills are actually ever reported by ADC, the figures can be, at times, significantly higher.
For example, many traps often go unchecked and are therefore not reported.
