About the Piece The figure in the Divine Female Tile is a split tailed mermaid, or siren, commonly found in the Starbucks logo. The split tailed mermaid is a Sheela na gig, in that she has parted her legs, to reveal her yoni. The mermaid is a being who lives in the water, traditionally a symbol of the subconscious. The Divine Female Tile and the Divine Male Tile incorporate elements from each other's panels, thereby reinforcing their interconnectedness.
