Books about Women as Soldiers

There are numerous books, magazines, and newspapers that make reference to women as soldiers within their pages - some from the Civil War period, and some published in more modern times. When you get right down to studying the subject, there are stacks of literature that make a one-sentence or one instance mention.  Rather than make a complete listing of all the publications that merely mention women soldiers, (avoiding your having to read an entire book for one sentence) this is compiled of a few books that yield more information about female or women soldiers than just mere mention.
