The Young, on Melida/Daan

Special Distinctions

Cerasi was a teenaged freedom fighter on the planet of Melida/Daan. Her plight and friendship with Obi-Wan Kenobi led him to remain behind and join with the Young in the Melida/Daan Civil War when Qui-Gon Jinn returned to Coruscant with the injured Jedi Master Tahl.

The daughter of the Melida leader Wehutti, Cerasi was a tenacious girl known for her intelligence and determination. After the Young were triumphant in the Civil War, she became the leader of the Melida/Daan Government Council, administering the planet with Nield and Obi-Wan.

Unfortunately, Nield sought more power, and his subordinate, Mawat attempted to unseat the three friends by re-starting the Civil War. Mawat re-armed the opposing sides in the conflict and engineered a battle, staging sharp shooters in a town square to ensure that fighting broke out. But Cerasi was the tragic victim of the sharp shooters, and she died in Obi-Wan's arms. With her death, the peace she had come to symbolize was jeopardized.

However, Qui-Gon Jinn found a holographic recording Cerasi had made before heading to the town square the day she died. When the situation threatened once again to break into warfare, he played the recording for all to hear and see. Cerasi's words proved the futility of war to those involved in the conflict, and an armistice was achieved.

Cerasi's death continued to haunt Obi-Wan, although he knew his friend would want him to carry on. Her loss was immeasurable for him.
