COLONEL ANNETTE LEIJENAAR
Former Head of Peacekeeping Training at the Department of Peacekeeping Operations
at the UN Headquarters in New York.

She joint the South African Army in 1974 as an Intelligence Officer and was promoted to her current rank in 1993.

She became the first South African woman to be awarded a degree in Military Science. She also holds  a Masters degree in Business Administration. (MBA)

She became the first woman to be appointed as South Africa’s Military Attache to the United Kingdom in 1995.

She currently serves as staff officer at Defence Headquarters in Pretoria, South Africa.
