Dr. Helen Caldicott
Dr. Helen Caldicott has been saving children since her days as a pediatrician
treating kids with cystic fibrosis in her native Australia. But French
nuclear testing off the coast of that country in the 1970s inspired
her to take on a bigger cause -- saving the world. A driven and articulate
crusader of the Nuclear Freeze movement, Caldicott has spoken all over
the world and has written several bestselling books. She was also the
first president of Physicians for Social Responsibility, was personally
nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize and has been awarded the Ghandi Peace
Prize and the SANE Peace Award, among others.
Now, dividing her time between the United States
and Australia, Caldicott continues to agitate the
status-quo. She currently focuses her energies
on saving the environment from destruction by
multinational corporations and on exposing the
inhumanity of our multi-billion dollar health industry.
