This is my entry into the 2004 Bait-O-Lympics... I started without much direction, noticed the lad was in South Africa and decided to try to have him arrested. That, sadly, didn't work out. So I decided to take him down another road... some silly pictures perhaps? Read on to see where it ends.

MR.STANLEY RAPHAEL
Dear Sir,
My name is Mr.Stanley Raphael the elder of Mr Alexander Raphael of Zimbabwe . It might be a surprise to you where I got your contact address from,I got it from the South Africa Information Network Online(SAINL)/South Africa Trade Center (SATC).
During the current crises against the farmers of Zimbabwe by the supporters of our President Robert Mugabe to claim all the white owned farms in our country, he ordered all the white farmers to surrender their farms to his party members and their followers. My father was one of the best farmers in the country and knowing that he did not support the presidents political ideology, the presidents supporters invaded my fathers farm ,burnt down everything, shot him and as a result of the wounds sustained, he became sick and died after two days. And after his death, My mother and I with my younger Brother decided to move out of Zimbabwe for the safety of our lives to South-Africa.
BUT, before he died HE WROTE HIS WILL ,which reads "(MY BELOVEED SON ,I WISH TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THE SUM OF $22.7 MILLION U.S DOLLARS WHICH I DEPOSITED IN A BOX WITH A SECURITY COMPANY IN JOHANNESBURG (SOUTH-AFRICA). IN CASE OF MY ABSENCE ON EARTH CAUSED BY DEATH ONLY".you should solicit for reliable foreign partner to assist you to transfer this money out of SOUTH-AFRICA for investment purpose.
I deposited the money in your Name "STANLEY RAPHAEL" and it can be claimed by you alone with the deposit code, your mother has all the documents,Take good care of your mother and brother." From the above, you will understand that the lives and future of my family depends on this money as much, I will be very grateful if you can assist us.We are now living in South-Africa as POLITICAL ASYLUM SEEKERS and the financial law of SOUTH-AFRICA does not allow ASYLUM SEEKERS certain financial rights to such huge amount of money .
In view of this, I cannot invest this money in South-Africa, hence I am asking you to assist us transfer this money out of South-Africa for investment pusposes. For your efforts, I am prepared to offer you 20% of the total fund, while 5% will be set aside for local and international expenses and 75% will be kept for my family and I.(ME).
Finally ,modalities on how the transfer will be done will be conveyed to you once we establish trust and confidence between ourselves. Looking forward to your urgent reply .
For detailed information, you can contact me on my direct line + 27-82-504-2920 or my email adress above
NOTE: THE KEY WORD TO THIS TRANSACTION IS ABSOLUTE CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECRECY. THIS TRANSACTION IS 100% RISK FREE. YOUR URGENT RESPONSE WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.
All the best,
Stanley Raphael( For the family)
Header works out to Capetown in SA - so I might offer this one to Rian later.
Also not the difference in the e-mail he gives in the text and the e-mail given in the header - the one in the text don't exists!
Dearest Stanley.
I am so soory about hearing how your father beeing forced off his farm and killed. It's awfull how people like this Mugabe are allowed to have control of a whole nation. Readign about it made me so angry I decided to help you out.
You say that we need to build trust before we go forward with this transaction. I agree, and so to begin with let me tell you more about myself. My name is Mary Mahnow, and I'm a 21 year old woman from Sweden, even if I work in Scotland for the time being to raise money for my operation. I'm not married, allthought I like to go out and dance and flirt with the boys in the weekends. I've attached a picture of myself so you can see what I look like. The outfit I wear in the picture I got from Father Agnus McDolphin, the pastor in the church I do some work for on sundays. He is such a sweet old man, and I think I'll donate most of the money you offer me to his church when the transaction is ready.
Tell me more about yourself Stanley and your family. You do sound like an interesting young man. What do you look like? Do you have any plans for where you want to settle once we have gotten your money out?
Yours
Mary
The picture Mary sendt him was this... should wet his appetite, ja?
He obviously needs a kick in the fork to get moving...
Hello
I wrote you a few days back regarding some help you needed with a transaction. Do you not need my help? Please write back so I don't have to worry that somethign bad has taken place.
yours
Mary
It worked.. we're on a roll.
Attn:
Mary Mahnow.
Thanks for your mail.
Now is not that i do not need your assistance any more, but i did not really understood your mind towards this transaction as i have earlier explained to you that your present is highly needed here before this consignment could be released for us. The reason why it is so is becuase according to our refugee status here in South Africa, we are not allowed to handle this transaction alone without having foriegner whom we shall present to the security company on our behalf as our beneficiary before it could be released.
Furthermore, after reading this mail and you still feel to assist us, kindly furnish us with your full name which shall be used by our adviser to obtained the change of ownership with the document in your name and equally certified it in court so that as soon as this consignment is out from the security company with the deposite certificate we shall give to you as the prove, it will not be difficult.
This process will not last for more than 3 working days, then the following day after we this fund is released from the security company, the money will be used to open non-resident account with your name here in South Africa were this fund will be first paid in, before it can be finally transferred directly to your account for finally withdraw.
Incase if you want to see the deposite cerficate before the change of ownership could be made, we can forward it immediatly.
How is life?, hope fine.
Thanks and have a nice day.
MR. STANLEY.
FOR THE FAMILY.
Hello again Stanley, it is good to hear from you again. I was starting to worry that somethin had happened to you and your family.
You say that my "present is highly needed here before this consignment could be released for us". Does this mean I ought to travel to South Africa to be able to help you? I can manage that after easter - I have some vacation time coming up and I've always wanted to visit Africa. Do you think I might have time to visit the Kruger-park while I'm there?
Yes, I would like to see the paperwork first Stanley... but I won't sign anything until I am in South Africa - that way I'm certain no one can break into your email and steal my signature.
You say you need my full name Stanley.. well, I did give you that and my personal details in my first mail, did I not? Surely you havn't forgotten so soon?
Write me back as soon as you can Stanley.. and please tell em more about yourself.
Yours
Mary
I've decided to ask for Rian's advice on how to play this lad so I can see him in the slammer... which may mean a less crazy bait, but a more satisfactory result.
Attn:
Mary Mahnow.
Thanks for your mail which is so much impresive to us to hear that after a while, due to your deeper concern to see that we come out from our situation, you still indicate your williness.
Now it seems that you did not understand the reason why we demanded you to kindly comfirm your full name once more for us, not that we are not still with it, the reason is that we don't want to make any mistake in the documents which shall be used while making the change of ownership with it.
Please if we are not mistaken, do you want us to use (MARY MAHNOW)?, If yes, while getting back indicate. don't be ofended kindly include your private phone and fax numbers for the purpose of the document.
Furthermore on thursday been 8th of apirl, 04 we shall fax the document to you as soon as we recieve those requirement requested above.
Finally as you have asked from us how possible it will be for you to visit ("Kruger-park'), it will be, becuase as far as our adviser is concern, wherever you want to visit after the transaction he will take you. You said that your coming down to South Africa will be after easter, we shall be glad if you can inform us the actual date your are proposing so that it will enable us to put everthing in place before you arrived.
How is life together with business?, hope fine.
May God protect you in all your life encounter Amen.
Awaiting for your urgent responde so that before this week end, the document will be with you.
Thanks and remain bless,
Mr. Stanley.
For the family.
Dearest Stanley
Off course I'm still more than willing to help you out, espesially after hearing about your situation. After all, don't the good book tell us that we should help others in their need?
Yes, the name which should go on all the documents are indeed Mary Mahnow - seeing as that is my whole and full name. I don't have a faxmachine, but you can call me on my handset at (+UK) 07005-803-788.
Since I don't have a faxmachine dear Stanley, could you maybe email me the documents instead so I can have a look at them?
I am so glad you're willing to show me around the Krugerpark Stanley.. I read so much about it and I would be very happy to see it. Do you know other places I ought to see while I am in Africa? Maybe you could send me a map or something?
And please tell me more about yourself Stan - you sound like such an interesting young man
Yours
Mary

FOR THE FAMILY.
It is interesting to 'read between the lines' of this one...
"only Elohim (GOD) will reward you in hundered
folds" - for you won't get anythign from us
"beaulty is in the eye on the beholders, but if i were to
say, i will vehemently inform you that i am beaultiful handsome
men of which you will not regret of knowing" - I'm ugly
"There is a wise saying that seening is believing and that
is the main reason we shall love to have you here" - we
don't believe it until we have the cash
I got three otherwise empty mails containg a load of (huge) false documents:
Certificate of Deposit, Change of Ownership, Depository Agreement page 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
They also left a number of short, not very enlightning voicemails on my dmClub voicemailnumber; 1, 2 and 3 (mp3-files, largest is about 150kb)
Mary Mahnow.
BELOW ARE THE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS, SO KINDLY STUDY IT VERY WELL AND GET BACK TO US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
FINALLY PLEASE WHILE GETTING BACK, DO NOT FORGET TO INFORM US THE DATE OF YOUR COMING DOWN INOTHER TO ENABLE US KNOW EXACTLY THE TIME TO BOOK FOR YOUR HOTEL RESERVATION IN TIME FOR YOU.
HOW IS LIFE TOGETHER WITH BUSINESS?, HOPE TO RECIEVE YOU VERY SOON.
AWAITING FOR YOUR URGENT RESPONSE IMMEDIATELY BECUASE TIME IS NO MORE IN OUR SIDE.
THANKS AND REMAIN BLESS,
MR, STANLEY RAPHAEL,
FOR THE FAMILY.
KINDLY DO NOT EXPOSE THIS TRANSACTION TO ANY BOBY AS YOU ARE AWAY THAT IS CONFIDENTIALS.
In responce to all this lovely mails, I just had to reply:
Subject: Hello again dearest
Dearest Stanley
I am sorry I havn't written to you in a few days my dear, but I have been quite busy in church since it is easter. Father Agnus, the local priest, visited South Africa in his youth. He says I just have to see something he called Table Mountain, near a place he called Cape Town. It sounds like a very interesting place, do you think I may have time to go there and look around?
I have talked to the travelagency today. They have some free seats on a plane going to South Africa on the 19th of April, ladning in Johannesburg on the morning of the 20th. Is this a good date for you, or should I try to get one later? I'm thinking of taking a couple of weeks vacation after I have finished helping you regain your funds. Perhaps you would like to spend the vacation with me and show me around? I am sure we both would enjoy that.
I have recived a couple of calls on my voicemail that I think is you - I'm so very sorry I didn't hear the phone so I could pick it up - your voice sounds very manly.
Also, I see that you have tried to send me the documents, but I think something must have gone wrong since I can't open the attachment. Could you be a dear and resend it?
I'm sorry to be so short with you, but I promised a friend I would go out and go to danceclubs with her today. Write me soon again Stanley.
Love
Mary
He sendt me all of the documents once more... I don't think I can open them this time either *evil grin*

Mr. stanley,
for the family.
Now, I have made him promise to take me to the Krugerpark, and in this last mail he promises to take me to the Table Mountain in Cape Town... Krugerpark is, my contact in SA tells me, 500 kilometer from Jo'burg. Cape Town is 1500 kilometer from Jo'burg. Needless to stance these lads plan to take Mary is to the nearest alleyway. See this page for a map showing where things are in relation to eachother in SA.
Hello again dearest Stanley
I'm quite flustured that you're so gratefull for me beeing willing to help - after all, helping other people is something all good christan should do, is it not?
I still can not seem to open to attachments you so kindly sendt me again, my computer says that they are too big, but I cannot understnad why... but then I'm not a genius on computers. If you like, I may ask Father Agnus if I may use the faxmachine in his office at church. You can trust Father Agnus, he is a priest and I trust him completly. In any cause I think you may want to bring the documents with you to the airport when I arrive so we can get this transaction over with as soon as possible so you can show me all the things there is to see in South Africa.
I will order my flighttickets once the easter is over, and I will pick up my passport at the same time.
Do give my regards to your family, will you dearest Stanley?
Love
Mary
I've signed up for a free faxnumber - same place as I got my free voicemail - and I've hand it to him if he agrees. Off course, the first time he'll send it'll be either running low or ink or out of paper *evil grin* //07005-803-987//

Now your email is well understood, like as you have just ask us to come with the documents in the airport to enable you to endorse all, before we visit the security company, i can suggest it will not be advisably as we all are still going to visit you in the hotel room, i think that place should be the best place to present the whole for you to sign before we proceed on the following day.
Furthermore kindly go ahead and book for your ticket to travel down becuase we have now finally succeeded in securing every arrengnment awaiting for your arrival for the completion.
Finally, as soon as you buy your ticket, endeavour to update us the actual date of arriving, so that we shall know the axact date to inform our adviser to book for hotel reservation for you in a nice eviroment.
You know that all along, that we have never inform our financial adviser to reach you ever since this transaction started, becuase he travled to boswana of which he just travled back yesterday, but not minding that he is there, he due use to reach us and ask us how far we have gone with you, of which we normally feed him back.
Definetly he will reach you tomorrow because we have give him your email address to reach you, so kindly been expecting his eamil tomorrow to give you some vital informations concerning this transaction.
How is life together with life encounter?, hope fine.
Thanks and reamin blessed,

Also, I have recived two more voicemails: 4 and 5. The lad still needs to learn how to use a voicemail.
Subject: Sorry for not writting you before
Dearest Stanley
I am sorry I havn't written to you in a few days, but I have been slightly ill and had to keep to my bed. Thanks to God I'm all right again now, and able to send you the confirmation I recived from the travelagency on email the day before yesterday. See attached document for details.
As you can see, I will land on the 20th of April in Johannesburg at 08:50 in the morning. I do hope I see you on the airport dearest Stanley, instead of being forced to fend for myself in a land I'm a stranger. You said you would be able to book me into a hotel dearest Stanley - I do hope it's a good hotel able to meet the needs of someone from such a cold place as I am. In spesific, do it have aircondition? Of you might send a copy of the reservation so I can calm Agnus' mind? He is acting quite worried that I might end up standing on the sidewalk with no place to sleep for some reason.
I do look forward to meeting you Stanley - you seem like such an interesting youung man.
Love
Mary

For the family.
Note how the IP (196.2.45.94) on this next one is identical, and how it is sendt less than fifteen minutes after the first - clearly, he realised that he had forgotten to ask for some 'gifts'... I'm sure he'll suggest mobile phones and laptops if I ask him what sort of gifts...
The IP resolves to Cape Town - as every IP in the bait has done so far.

Thanks once more, please my dear kindly buy some gift items which we shall give to our financial adviser and other workers in the secuurity company who have been assistning us all along since this consignment is deposited.
Thanks and have a nice day, till we meet face to face.
stanley,
for the family.
Before I got around to replying, I got three more voicemails; 6, 7 and 8
Dearest Stanley.
I'm sorry I could not write you yesterday, but your sudden revival that you needed money to get the consigment from the security company meant I had to try and raise it for you. I do wish you could have told me before Stanley, as I would have had much better time to get it for you then.
I have managed to raise 3000Ģ (about 5400$) from my own accounts in such short notice, and Agnus is willing to borrow me the rest from church founds until my return. He is such a sweet old man, don't you think Stanley?
I have found a few gifts I think might be suitable, but you forgot to tell me how many I need. Could you get back to me as soon as possible on that Stanley? I would hate to bring to few along with me.
Otherwise I'm busy packing my suitcases. I've never been to Africa before so I am having a hard time figuring out what to bring. I will certainly bring the new outfit I got today (see attached photo) in case you and I decide to go clubbing. I've allso attached a scan of my passport so you will be sure to recognise me Stanley.
See you on tuesday
Love
Mary

Furthermore, like as you ask me to inform you the number of people that we are expected to give gifts items, is about four people. so hope to have you soonest. and also i promise you that you will never forget your good experience, as an adge says that travel in a part of education.
I WILL CALL YOU TOMORROW,TILL THEN

Subject: Looking forward to see you Stanley
Dearest Stanley
I was very happy too see your mail from you today. I've tried to call you on the number which you gave me earlier (+27 72 187 1992), but only got some funny noises in the reciver. Is there some problem with the connection betwen the UK and South Africa?
I've packed my suitcases now Stanley, and are ready to leave. I got the money you said we needed to pay of the fees, but I have not been able to exchange it from british pounds to US dollars. I do hope this isn't going to cause any trouble. I feel a bit uneasy about traveling with almost 3700 british pounds hidden in my handluggage - I hope no one tries to steal my purse at the airport Stanley, as that would mean I can't help you.
I must leave now, as Tor has offered to take me out for a fareweel dinner before my hollyday in South Africa... he don't know why I so suddenly decided to travel, so he is going to be very surpriced when I return with all the money you promised me Stanley. Agnus has offered to drive me to the airport tomorrow, and I've given him your email so he can mail you when he gets back to tell you I'm on the flight.
Until I can see you with my own eyes
Love
Mary
Sadly, the ploy to get the lads arrested didn't pan out... apperantly the lads wasn't showing their placker or something.
The day 'my' flight was supposed to land I got two voicemails: 9 & 10.

My Dearest man of God.
To be frank with you since that very date we are expected her arrival here in South Africa as we have make all the arrengement with the hotel managment to pick her at the airport as soon as she arrived, and we went hoping to pick her immediately the flight arrived but all our effort to recieve her, was to no avail, because we waited untill every body gose out.
So later when we call the hotel as we expected her call for a while, the hotel inform us that they did not find her, that we should call her number in london and find out whether she missed flight, of which we did hoping to speak to her or to somebody who might have been with her phone, but all my effort to speak to her, could not work out of which i drop massage in her phone on the voice mail telling her that we are still waiting for her. please kindly listing for her phone and you will hear my voice mail.
Furthermore, i told her to call me or my financial adviser as soon as she arrived in the airport, but we did not recieve any call uptill this moment. kindly find out may be whether she later decieded not to travel down because that same very date we called the brithsh airways at the airport and ask them whether the same flight number she send to us arrived, they told us that it is here, so we tell the lady we got on the phone will it be possible for them to check for us her name whether she is one of the people arrived with that same flight, but she told us that it is against their law.
Finall, my dear. kindly find out exactly what happened and get back to me as soon as you recieve this mail because my mother is now in coma since then. please give me your private phone number so that i can call you. what is still puting me into astonishment since this transaction started, is that we have never get her on phone, we only call and drop voice mail, before she could get back to us by email.
Awaiting for your response,
till then.
Stanley
for the family.
N.B., now you can even check her email if you have ecess and see that i later went and write her mail, hoping to hear from her, but did not recieve any response since then. please! please!! get beck because we are still worried her where about.

Sir
This is very worrysome news indeed. I have still no word from Mary, neither by email nor cellphone. Since she has been missing almost a week now I have gone to the police to report her as a missing person. The British Airways won't tell me if she ever boarded the plane to South Africa, but I know for certain that she took the conecting flight out of Glascow.
Sir, if you hear even the slightest word from Mary, please let me know at once. We are very conserend something might have befallen her.

THanks, at list for hearing from you because i and my mother are still worried, if not for any thing, but to know her where about that she is save no matter where ever she is.
Furthermore, plase could you kindly berif us whether you are sure that she took the flight because according to our last discussion by email with her before the day of her coming down to soth africa, she told us that a friend will take her for a diner tonight, then the following day, you will took her to the airport, of which i send my phone number together with my financial adviser own to reach us before she followed the hotel taxi to the hotel where we make reversation for her, but to our dismay we did not hear from her.
Finally, kindly comfirmed from the airways menu whether she boarded the flight to south africa or she did not make the connection.
please send your private phone for us to reach you.
thanks,
stanley,
Stanley
As far as I can find out, Mary did take the flight from London so South Africa. At least, BA says she did, and they should know since they run all the tickets thru the electronic system.
I can't help wondering if she has arrived but for some reason is unable to communicate? Are you quite sure she is not with you?
I have talked with the police again today. If Mary isn't found until next monday, they will take her disapperance to Interpol. I pray to God Allmighty that she is safe and sound.
God Bless

Sorry for our delay to reach you for quite long now, it is because i have not check our email since i and my mother are always going to the house of our Ex- financial adviser to seeking for an assistance to help us to look for MARY MAHNOW where about as this incident have be disturbing us both spiritually and mantelly.
Now to be frank with you, not minding that we are not South African citizen who have every right to move about, to seek for information, we have been trying our best with the assistance of our adviser ever since than till this moment, we even went to the airport to speak with the british airways pertaining this matter, but they did not want to give us attention as they said it is againest their law.so please my dear father, if there is any way inwhich you can assist us to look for her, kindly go ahead, provided that she is found in good health.
Finall, if i were to say, i would have said that she did not come down to South Africa, becuase we went to the airport that very day to wait for her with the hotel management, hoping to recieve her, but to our dismay, all our stay in the airport to welcome, did not yeild any friut as we waited untill the whole perssenger gone out, before we go back. even uptill this moment, my mother have not yet get her self as a woman.
awaiting for your response.
Stanley
I quite understand that you have delays in writing me.. I find it hard to do much myself these days. It is twoo weeks since Mary disappered without a trace, and I havn't sleept since. I pray to the Lord that He is keeping His hand over her.
I have once more talked to British Airways as well as to the police. All I know is that her ticket is registered as used, meaning that she or - as the policesergant is keen to point out to me - someone using her ticket did board the plane. If she didn't get out at the gate in South Africa I have no idea where she has gone to, unless she has been arrested by the custom or something like that.
God Bless
Agnus
Stanley has gone silent. Gentle pokes go unread. Hopefully he has meet a gruesome end...
