Some of the birding spots that I visit frequently |
Montane birds |
Gunung Brinchang - in Cameron Highlands. This is one of the 2 publicly accessible spots to look for the rarely seen cold climate birds |
Sub - Montane birds |
Frasers Hills - The most popular highland areas, also the Mecca of Birding. There are several spots within the Hill station where birding can be productive |
Bukit Tinggi - in Pahang. This is a low hill east of Genting Highlands. There is hill station, resort and a botanical garden. With human activities and flowers. A focal point of new type diversity among the pristine forest. |
Awana - in Pahang. There is a Golf course and behind the golf course, a road runs parallel to a deep valley of pristine forest. |
Forest edge birds |
Ampang Recreation Park - at the edge of Kuala Lumpur City. An urban park thrusting into the valley within pristine forest. |
Rengit/ Kuala Ganda - Heart of Pahang forest land. A 4 kilometers road running through wide varieties of habitats for forest birds |
Wetland birds |
Kampong Sungei Buloh - in Selangor. There is the combination of scene of estuary, track along Mangrove forest and mudflats next to the famous Kapar Ash Pond. No permission required. |
Merlimau - in Malacca. Open Rice fields next to ancient forest and sparsely populated rural area. |
Langkawai Island - in Kedah. Mangrove forest with rare birds normally found in the Isthmus area |
