Radio Interview in Korea:
"Janruary '99"

DJ:Hello
Gil:Hi, nice to be here
DJ:You said nothing else matters is your favorite song
Gil:It's my favorite song, of all time
DJ:It there any particular reason why you like this song?
Gil:Yeah, about six years ago when this song came out my mother and father. They decided to have a big fight, then they separated, and I was listening to this song. Because nothing else matters. They always say nothing else matters, but life goes on and on. There's always tomarrow. Thats why this song is my favorite song of all time.
DJ:That's a great story. So does this story have a happy ending?
Gil:Yeah. My parents are together again, and this year we are going to move to a big house. We've already moved to a big house, but my mother and brother, they are coming.
DJ:Gil could you say your full name?
Gil:My full name is Gil Doron Reischtadt Ofarim. If I would like, say it in Korean, people say first name and last, my name will be Ofarim Reischtadt Doron Gil.
DJ:I hear Gil has a meaning
Gil:The name Gil comes from the Old Testament and it means happiness. There's another funny story. Before I was born my mother had a problem. She wasn't able to have children, but they tried it. So I came. She said I'm her happiness.
DJ:This is your second visit to Korea. I heard that you had samples of Korean food. Any favorite?
Gil:Oh yeah, my favorite is Bulgoggie and Kimchi, I love Kimchi. Because I love spicy food, and there's another funny story. Where we used to live in Germany. There was a Korean restaurant in front of our house.
DJ:No kidding
Gil:Yeah, it was a Korean Restaurant. It was called Seoul. I always had #41. That'd Bulgoggie and #4. Thats Kimchi. #20 is a Coke.
DJ:Gil, how was your grade in school? What was your favorite subjects and what was your worst subjects?
Gil:My favorite subject is always all the time music. In Germany they got 1 to 6. I always had number 1 in music. In math, I don't like that subject. So I always had something between 4 or 5. That wasn't very good.
DJ:So, did you always want to be a musician? Was there...
Gil(interrupts):Always, always, always
DJ:Any time in your life, did you dream of being something else?
Gil:A tennis player
DJ:Do you like playing tennis?
Gil:Yeah
DJ:Are you a good tennis player?
Gil:I used to play on a German teenager national team
DJ:Gil, could you sing something for us?
Gil:I would like to sing my new single, "Talk to you"
Gil sings..........
Gil:Thank you, gamsahapnida (it means thank you in Korean)
DJ:I want to ask you, Did you write this song yourself? You told me right?
Gil:Yeah
DJ:You wrote this song....um...What was your feeling when you wrote this song? It seems to me that you're trying to reach out to someone.
Gil That's right
DJ:You might have been very lonely or feeling low
Gil:Right
DJ:Was that is? Am I close?
Gil:Yeah, thats right. I want to write a song that has no meaning about love. I want to write a song without love. Just only to say that sometimes people feel lonely, and sometimes if they need somebody. It's not like everybody says if you need somebody just call out my name. I'll be there for you all the time. Sometimes if you need somebody there's no one. Sometimes you feel very lonely. It's exactly how I said with the nothing else matters. Life goes on, life goes on... there's no end. There's always a tomarrow.
DJ:As I listened to your voice. We listened to you "Round 'n Round" before. Your voice has transformed. That's changed.
Gil:That's right
DJ:How Come?
Gil:Well, I recorded the song "Round 'n Round" in September '97. Now it's January '99. But if you want me to sing. I could sing "Round 'n Round" with the same voice. It sounds different.
DJ:Your voice is going to get deeper?
Gil:Yeah
DJ:How deep do you think it's gonna go
Gil:I don't know (voice is getting lower when he said) no. I really don't know
DJ:So we can look forward to listening to an even different sound? Different voice for a few years from now. As your voice goes deeper. Right? No...
Gil:Um... You mean if I'm gonna change my music. If I'm gonna change the sound of my music?
DJ:I don't know. Will You?
Gil:I don't know. Well, lets see. I like rock music. I'll never change to dance music. I want always to stay with my rock music.
DJ:Do you have a girlfriend?
Gil:Yeah, I got a girlfriend. Her name is "Tacomini" and she would like to say something (plays guitar) thank you. No, I got no girlfriend. I call my guitars my girlfriends. So I go 16 girlfriends at the same time. I can have a date with every girlfriend. She'll always tell me the truth.
DJ:You have sixteen guitars?
Gil:Yeah
DJ:Why so many?
Gil:Cause I love guitars.
DJ:You collect guitars?
Gil:I collect guitars..... from my mom and father
DJ:I got album here. What is this album?
Gil:This album is my debut album called "Here I am" and there's a special album that's my second album. It's still my first album but I want to thank my Korean fans for being so nice to me. So friendly. Last time I was here, and you know Korea was to me it's unbelievable. It was for me it's the most beautiful place in Asia. The girls are beautiful, the food is great. I know even the food and.... with a special thanks album. I want to give the Korean fans a chance to choose their favorite version of very song album. There's "Round 'n Round," "If you Only Knew," "Talk to You," "Never Givin up now," "Christmas Time" thats a special song for Christmas.
