Part 7

JC woke up at the sound of a door opening. He glanced at his wrist to see what time it was and then remember Serge had took his watch.

" Wake up, its time for work." Came the voice from the door and disappeared as fast as it had appeared. JC glanced outside through the window and groaned. It was still dark outside. He could see the sunrise and he wanted to go back to sleep. He did so but soon he was lifted in the air by Serge.

" No son of mine is lazy. You're gonna work like everyone else. We have to be ready for the big day."

JC nodded and bowed his head. He hadn't imagined it would be like that. He thought he would be easy to live with his new 'friends'. But after one day, he was having some regrets. He was scared by the Big Day. He wasn't sure exactly what would happen and he knew better than asking. He didn't want to be kicked out.

But most of all, he missed Lance. He missed seeing those green eyes. He missed the flirting, the innocent touching. At night, he couldn't help it and dream that Lance was in love with him. But he was only a fag; Lance couldn't love him that way. No one in the outside world could. Serge had told him: 'if he loves you he will tell you and follow you here.' And Lance hadn't followed him. But he hadn't stayed with Lance either; he hadn't followed him back to the hotel. JC quickly pushed those thought in the back of his mind. Lance didn't love him, he shouldn't be thinking like that.

" Scott, would you go back to your task please. We don't have time to wait." Serge yelled from the other side of the common room. JC cringed at the use of his middle name and went back to his task; cleaning the floor. He groaned at the stupidity of it.

Lance tapped impatiently on the dashboard of the car, waiting for Joey. He had been up for hours now and Joey was being slow, very slow. He knew his friend didn't want to go back. But they had to. Lance needed to go back another time and talk with JC. He was prepared this time. Even if JC promised him the moon and the stars, he wouldn't stay.

Lance glanced outside the car, getting frustrated by Joey. He climbed out of the car and went back in the hotel. He found Joey talking seriously with Chris and Justin. He sighed and quickly made his way toward them.

" Are you ready?" Lance whined pulling at Joey's arm impatiently. He knew he must have looked like a little child but he didn't care. Joey nodded and followed him outside and in the car.

JC was daydreaming again when Serge shook him out of his dream.

" Are you thinking about him?" He asked softly, sitting beside his new son.
" I think he loves me. After the other night…" JC trailed, still trying to understand his thoughts.
" You got it wrong Scott. He's young, he was horny. And you told me he was kinda drunk. Alcohol makes us weak. Love makes us weak too. You friends left very quickly yesterday. They would have stayed longer if they had really cared about you. They probably already forgot about you. They don't appreciate you like we do here. You're important for us." Serge said, rubbing JC's back.
" I guess you're right." The brunet sighed and went back on working.
" I'm always right son." JC wanted nothing more than yelling at the older man. He already had a father. He wasn't 'his' son.

" Can you go faster?"

Joey sighed desperately. It was the third time in fifteen minutes that Lance had asked to go faster.
" No Lance. If we go faster, there's chance that we won't make it there. And I'm sure you want to see JC again before dying right?" Lance nodded and resumed his pouting. He stared at the window blankly, his eyes unfocused. " I'm going as fast as I can." Joey said in an attempt to bring the blonde out of his mood.
" I know."
" Then stop pouting." A weak smile appeared on the young face. " Better."

Lance's face lighted up when he saw the building at the horizon. He grinned at his friend in the driver seat and tried his best to stay calm.

" You won't do anything stupid huh?" Joey asked worriedly.
" Of course not. Why would you think that?" The other man replied, still looking through the window.
" It's just Justin who don't want you to…"
" I won't. Yesterday I wasn't prepared. I am now."

Joey nodded and concentrated on the road in front of him.

JC had escaped the common room, unnoticed by Serge. He was now outside, hiding behind a fence. Nothing was like what Serge had told him it would be. No one in there was happy. They thought they were, they were too exhausted to think otherwise. JC silently thanked God for not letting Lance follow him. In 24 hours he had seen so many things he didn't like. He had seen Serge lied, he had seen him beat a kid. The man he had trusted for 2 months wasn't true. So he could have easily lied about everything else. JC wanted to get out of there, and fast.

He kicked at the ground, mentally counting how many ways he had to leave. He was about to sit on a bench when something on the road caught his attention. He looked through the fence and saw a car pulling in front of the building. Blocking the sun with his hand, he looked more closely and immediately recognised Lance and Joey.

" They're back. I can leave now." He said happily to himself and ran inside, the only way he could get to Lance.

" I hope it will work." Lance said, walking toward the building.

'I hope too' Joey thought. They entered into the building and were stopped immediately by a young man. After explaining him why they were there, the young man asked them to stay there and left them alone. Lance took this time to observe the environment. Joey was doing the same on his side of the room.

" What can I do for you?" They both jumped in surprise at the cold sound of Serge's voice. " Josh doesn't want to see you. You've hurt him yesterday and now he doesn't want to hear about any of you. If you care about him, you should leave him alone. I won't take anymore intrusion from you."
" I need to talk to him." Lance said, moving so he would stand in front of Serge.
" He don't want to talk to you. He hates you."

Lance closed his eyes at the words and when he opened them again, Serge was gone. He felt a hand on his shoulder.

" Come on Lance. We better leave." Joey said sadly. Lance agreed, tears threatening to fall again.

Once inside, Serge and another man stopped JC. JC tried to walk through them but it was impossible.

" Lance is there for me. I need to see him." He went unheard by Serge, who was talking with two other men.
" Don't let him go there. Bring him back outside."

As they had been told, the two men grabbed JC and brought him back outside. From there, JC saw Lance and Joey leaving, without him. He screamed at them, ignoring the tears falling on his cheeks. But they didn't hear him and left. JC felt on the ground and only looked up when he heard Serge coming for him.
