Act Of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offened You, and I detest all my sins, because of Thy just pushiments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more, and avoid the near occasions of sin. Amen.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offened You, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, Who are all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen.

T his is a testimant of one's contrition in God. Contrition is the sorrow from sinning agaist God. Penance is the work to ask for forgiveness after confession. The seven deadly sins are really the seven deadly occasions of sin. Each in itself is not sinful, but leads to sin. Also sin in its etymology means to miss like I missed the target.
