The Big Picture
Chapel Farm is ideally located between two of England's most famous National Parks, The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. Both of these National Parks are within a 10 mile radius of Little Asby.
Two of Britain's best loved long distance walking paths also pass within 10 miles of Chapel Farm. The Coast to Coast long distance path (east to west) passes through Kirkby Stephen. The Pennine Way passes just north of Appleby.

Getting to Chapel Farm

From the north or south by road
M6 Motorway. Leave at junction 38. Take A685 towards Kirkby Stephen. At Newbiggen on Lune turn left towards Great Asby.
After 4 miles, turn right to Little Asby. Turn left into Chapel Farm. Follow signs to reception.

Local Events

  • Appleby-in-Westmorland hosts The Appleby Horsefair every year in June (2nd to 8th) 2005. Giving a unique insight into the gypsy way of life. During the Appleby Horsefair week the town will be swarming with visitors all trying to get accommodation in the surrounding area. Book early to avoid disappointment!
  • Kirkby Stephen hosts a Walking Festival, on  6th June 2005.
  • In July the garden trail in Kirkby Stephen should not be missed.

Transport of Delight

  • The Settle-Carlisle Railway is without a doubt one of Britain's most spectacular railway lines. It passes just about two miles away from Chapel Farm. It is a pleasant walk across the fells to the unspoilt village of Crosby Garrett where you can picnic and see one of the railway's famed viaducts. At Kirkby Stephen you can board the train or take the car to Settle and get a return ticket and do the whole scenic trip.
