Daytona Beach 2000

Here we are getting off the bus at our hotel right on the beach.  In case you didn't know already, on Friday May 5, the armed drill team won first place in the nation at the Daytona beach drill championships.  The competition was held at the Ocean City Arena and 79 different high schools participated in the challenge level of competition.  They came from all over the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Japan.  Needless to say the competition was very stiff.  Although we are happy and proud, we are also in a sort of shock to have won first place in this national and prestigious event.  The next day, on Saturday, we all went to Disney World, specifically Adventure Island.  Everyone had a blast. They have great rides and attractions.  The most favorite rides were the Hulk and the twin dragons.   Transportation was a big huge bus provided by Alabama Limousine.  We watched movies on the TV sets which were installed about every 4th row of seats.  We also got to do a little souvenir shopping as the shops line the whole area.  Daytona Beach is a good name for the city as the whole place is one big beach.

We stayed at the Ramada " surf side" with a wonderful view of the beach and ocean.  Our booster club fixed a full  course breakfast for us each morning that included bacon, sausage, eggs grits, juice, and hot coffee for us adults.  We had pizza, hamburgers, sandwiches, and an all you can eat seafood buffet for our other meals. This is the Hotel where we stayed.  You sure can tell we are in Florida in this photo, with the palm trees, sea green ocean and the glittering sun rays.
