2001 Tuscaloosa Drill Meet

It’s Sunday, September the 23rd.  We all loaded up the old cheese bus and headed to Tuscaloosa to participate in Hillcrest High School drill meet.  We got an early start, if fact, so early, that about 4 or 5 of the cadets didn’t make it.

We took our Color Guard, Unarmed drill team, Rifle team, and Academic team.  It was a long day and really hot outside.  The facilities at the school were super nice!  They had plenty of accommodations to host their very first competition.  All the teams went their separate ways to compete.  Terrance Smith, our Battalion Commander, had two of the four member Academic team absent.  He and SFC Masters grabbed two warm bodies from the other special teams and took the test at the appropriate LET level.  They did awful but Terrance maxed his test and pulled off fourth place.  The Rifle team finished third in the precision category, the Un-Armed Drill team finished second, and the Color Guard came in first place.
