++ Lord Celeborn ++

Celeborn, Lord of Lothlorien, is not a very prominent character in either The Silmarillion or The Lord of the Rings. His name means ‘Tree of Silver’, the same name given to the white tree of Tol Eressëa. This name could have several origins but I tend to believe it has something to do with the mallorn trees. He was born and raised in the realm of Doriath [where he founded Lothlorien 2 ages later]. We know from The Lord of the Rings, that Lady Galadriel gives a mallorn nut to Samwise Gamgee, so we can assume that they grew there ages before when Celeborn was born. In the First Age, he wedded Lady Galadriel the White, one of the Calaquendi, the elves from Valinor. Together, they bore a daughter, Celebrian, who married Elrond Half-Elven and bore Arwen Undomiel. In the Third Age, they founded Lothlorien and dedicated its use to that of resting the weary, healing the injured and sick, and assisting in any way the could in the battle against Sauron.
When Lady Galadriel, Lord Elrond, and a great many of the elves of Middle Earth sailed for Valinor, it is untold whether Celeborn left or stayed or what became of him. He is, in many ways, a reflection of King Thingol of the Sindar, one of his close kin. He is very protective over his realm and of those he loves.
