Biometrics: Identity Assurance in the Information Age, a new book by John D. Woodward, Jr., Nicholas M. Orlans, and Peter T. Higgins, (Osborne McGraw Hill, 2003), is now available. Several universities use this book, including the U.S. Naval Academy for its course on "Biometric Signal Processing".
Here is what the U.S. Naval Academy professors said about the book: "[T]he background of biometrics was taught using the text from Woodward, Orlans and Higgins. This book provided an overview of the evolution of biometrics as used in personnel authentication, as well as the issues surrounding the use and collection of this information . . . Weekly assigned readings were drawn from this book and the students were tested on their content with quizzes."
