My talk about
Alexander Neibaur

I want to tell you about my great great great grandfather, Alexander Neihbaur. He was born in Alsace Lorraine, in Europe and he was a Jew. His dad was very smart and he was a translator and doctor to Napoleon. Alexander’s father wanted him to be a rabbi, but while he was studying to be a Rabbi he decided he believed Jesus was the Messiah, so he couldn’t be a rabbi, he became a dentist instead. He moved to Preston, England, and married Ellen Breakel, a Christian.
When Alexander decided he was a Christian, he was praying to know what Christian church to join. He had a vision about two men with a book. He was told to read the book and join this church.

Alexander’s wife was on the front porch one day as usual, cleaning the stairs. Her neighbor asked if she had heard about those two men from America, telling people about seeing an angel and getting a new book. Alexander heard them from inside his study. He quickly opened up the windows and said, “Book? What book? Where is this book?” He ran out of the house to look for them. He found Wilford Woodruff and said “I hear you have a book I need to read. Then I need to join your church.”

He read the book and joined the church, then his wife joined the church and went to America with lots of other people who also joined the Church. It was hard for him to be a pioneer, because he was used to living in the city, but he taught Hebrew and German to Joseph Smith. He was a good dentist, and he made the first matches in Salt Lake.

Just before he died, he looked up into heaven and said, “Joseph! Joseph!” I think it’s because he saw him.

Alexander followed the prophet his whole life. I hope we can all do it, too. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen
