Grandma’s notebook

My grandma likes to do genealogy. She finds out about our great grandmas and great-great grandpas. She has lots of stories about finding people.

Once grandma had a notebook full of names and information about people. She knew they were from our family, but lots of the names were the same. She didn’t know if they were grandparents or sons or uncles. She was carrying the notebook downstairs to look at it and she tripped. The notebook was knocked out of her hand and all the hundreds of pages fell out. The papers got all mixed up. She was very frustrated. As she picked them up they were now in a different order than they had been, and they started to make more sense. She noticed one person was another person’s father, one was a son, a couple were brothers. By the time she was through picking up the papers she had put together five generations with all the marriages and brothers and sisters.

My mom and lots of my family got to help do their temple work, and they felt like those people were watching and happy. Now we always talk about the man who threw grandma’s notebook down the stairs.

I know many people who have died want us to find them and will help us when we are ready.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
