27.10.2005: and now, let’s cross live to our weather desk …

Hello there. Hope you’re all having a smashing time, wherever you are and whatever you're doing :-)

This is really no more than a glorified postscript to my beautiful day entry. I just want to show you something I noticed last night when I got home from school.

I'd taken some photos during the day, and I was loading them onto my hard drive. As I scrolled through the new 'album', one of the shots suddenly reminded me of another image I’d seen recently. I looked more closely and realised it was taken in almost exactly the same spot as the pic I'd uploaded a couple of weeks earlier to show you the autumn colours of Prazhskaya.

Here are the two photos I'm talking about. As you’ll notice, they were taken just sixteen days apart.

Can’t think of a better way than this to illustrate my point about how very quickly autumn gives way to winter here. It’s a pretty speedy transformation, wouldn’t you say?

Btw, the more recent shot was taken as I was heading to work on Wednesday, in the middle of my first snowstorm. It was a relatively light one, but it was so much fun! Yes, yes, I know – those of you who are currently living in snowy places or who have done in the past are going “just you wait, sonny boy; two months from now you’ll be cursing the stuff”. And you’re probably right. But I’m thinking that's all the more reason to relish the novelty of snow while it lasts. Agreed?

Okay, that’s all for the moment. More soon, though …
