Communications is a two-way street. Some people may be wired like radio stations and transmit incessantly while others don the roles of recording devices and receive input on a full time basis. Full-time transmitters and full-time receivers do not communicators make, nor do they participate in what is defined as communications. Polonius of Hamlet could very well have said, "Neither a chatterbox nor a dumb ox be. Really, to have a chat line there must be some back and forth, some give and take, some tick and some tock in a smooth running clock. Otherwise there exists no chat line.
At one time experts said that in enduring relationships attention spans possess at best a 14-second window. That meant that when transmission time exceeded the 14 seconds, the receiver shut down. With the barrage of various fumes, chemicals, toxins, additives, and so on, to which one is exposed, in the workplace, in homes or in our diets attention spans are ever shortening. A chat line today in some instances might sound like two AK-47's firing off as many verbal rounds of information as possible within that 14-second period when each takes a turn.
Any more, chat lines between people involve facial verebal cues such as eye rolls to say a million things, one of which is to express boredom. Hand waves, lip twists and twirls, or full-face movements like a scrunch might show that you don't like something or don't really go along with the thought. Head bobbing from side to side fifty times might express "I don't know about that, or I doubt it" which is easier shown than said so as to protect someone from the spoken word. Maybe it's easier to deny the mistaken definition of a certain facial expression than the big bad W.O.R.D.
Never mind. Now-a-days you can become involved in communications via chat lines available on the internet. Exposed to an entire worldwide reservoir of respondents, you need to be cautioned with respect to what you are doing as the dangers from talking to strangers can sometimes be fatal. Once we were cautioned to never talk to strangers; now over internet anonymity brings the best or the beast out of those who wish to either bless or abuse cyberspace.
All of this leads up to something which you might not have considered before. Even worse dangers lurk when we get on a chat line with a stranger in the spiritual dimension. If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, with whom might you be chatting? Who needs to tell you that if you go spiritual fishing without Christ in you and you in Christ, you are likely to hook a demon, as Satan himself may be too busy for a little fish like you. You can set up a chat line today with God by first asking Jesus Christ into your life and know (See 1John 4:4) then that He that is in you (Christ) is greater than he who is in the world (Satan). In short you will be covered by the blood of the Lamb, safe in the arms of the great I am. Whereupon you do this, you will have set up a chat line which is open forever. Stay within God's will and Jesus says (John 14:14), "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." Set up a chat line today with Jesus, the best in the field of Spiritual communications.
