God Can't Win

Who would ever believe that the God that Christians serve, that the God that created the universe, that the Ancient of Days, can't win? No matter the notions to the contrary, it is true that there are some things at which God just can't win. Despite the fact that God is omnipotent (all powerful), omnipresent (everywhere), and omniscient (all knowing), God does not always win. It's true. Sometimes God loses. Sometimes he loses "bigtime."

In an area where God remains what we might call a gentleman-like God, he remains a God who never forces his will or his way upon anyone. God is patient. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God is "...longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." Nonetheless, it is in this forum that, more often than not, God can't win. It is in this arena that God, no matter the desire of his heart, can't come out victorious. It is in this colliseum that each one of us has the power to bind the hands of an entity that created us all: God. Therefore, unless we allow Him to, God can't win.

I Timothy 2:4 reveals to us that God is he "...who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." That speaks of the desire of God's heart. But 2 Timothy 3:7 shows us that some resist the knowledge of the truth and they are, "...ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." In verse 8 these people, and you could be one of them, "...also resist the truth..." And no matter what, verse 9 tells us that all who resists the truth shall "...proceed no further..."

What amazing power over God each one of us has. What force of resistance we have to hold back the call of God, to stave off the power of the Holy Spirit...just by refusing to receive Christ as Saviour. The ones against whom God can't win can stare God in the face and say, "I dare you to save me against my will!" And, of course, God won't do it. For God to break his word, though his heart might cry out to you to relinquish your hold onto your will, it is your will which reigns. Continue to reject Christ and God loses his battle for your soul, but should your heart change, Jesus says in John 12:26, "...if any man serve me, him will my Father honour." In John 14:23 Jesus says, "If a man love me, he will keep my words...we will come to him and make our abode with him."

Ezra 8:22 tells us that God's "..power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him." Without a doubt, it remains our prerogative (option) to forsake God, and it is for that reason that for those who do so, God can't win. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 speaks so clearly: It says, "For God has not appointed us to wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ." Receive your appointment today and let God win so that you do not lose out "bigtime" eternally.
