One of the many good things about a wooden head (one with ears, that is) is that it will not reveal any of the secrets whispered into its ears. Just think of it, for a person with an uncontrollable urge to tell it all, the wooden head would be only willing to hear it all. It could be a near cure-all for the "walky-talky" types. I mean, what could be repeated! At a wooden head, as well, a person could whine and complain, nag and growl, holler insults or, in better times, purr words of affection. And what would it matter? All of these vocalizations would just go right over the top of a wooden head, wouldn't they? Another person could use the wooden head as a sounding board off which one could bounce ideas. Upon doing that, you know, if a person had half a mind to listen closely enough, he might even hear an answer, probably a logical one at that. Yes, the valedictorian could practice his speech while a soprano could train her voice for Hollywood. Coincidentally, but unfortunately, the greatest assets of the wooden head -- that it can't see, hear, talk or listen -- are likewise attributable to a certain side of many a man: the spiritual side.
Within the spiritual realm, a veritable wooden head, whether sculpted of rock maple or other, has as much going for it in the eternal sense as the majority of human beings. Though many will have heads that can see, hear, talk and listen, their lives will continue as Acts 28:26 says, they "will be ever hearing but never understanding...ever seeing, but never perceiving." For instance, every wooden head has heard that God loved the world so much that he sent his Son Jesus to die for those who would live for him. But the Bible says that "their ears are dull of hearing." That means that people can hear but they won't listen. In addition to that, the wooden head has seen God's creation in its surroundings, but the Bible says, "they have closed their eyes" (Acts 28:27). Once again, that means that people, though seeing with their physical eyes, remain blind with their spiritual eyes. God always says, "Come now, and let us reason together (Isaiah 1:18). And that is a request from God to listen to reason once and for all. God also says, "if ye be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land..." (Is. 1:19). It seems that no reasoning will suffice with most until there is sufficient reasoning. As a consequence, most will remain spiritually unreasonable.
As you know, it would take a wooden head to think that God's plan occurred by accident. Even more "wood" might be found in the thinking that likewise everybody will be saved as well by that same accident. The truth of the matter is that an accident can take you to hell -- a car accident or other that is -- if you perish in it while not having known Christ. But for those who know Christ and get into a fatal accident, that accident will take them to heaven. That's the only way you can get to heaven by accident. Getting to heaven will be the result of God's plan which causes a lot of splinters in so many wooden heads.
Whether one has a head of wood, or, for that matter, a head of granite, God will continue to knock. In Revelations 3:20 Jesus says, "I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in..." If you ever had to lose your head, the wooden one, that is, now is the time. Why? There will be no wooden heads in heaven because the wooden head refuses to call on Jesus. Acts 4:12 says this: "there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
