The Seventh Day Adventist Church claims to be the "Remnant church" or "True Church" as do other churches such as the Catholic church, the Church of the Latter Day Saints, the Jehovah's Witness and others. All can't be the "True Church"
What does the Bible say about the "True Church"?
About two thousand years before the Seventh day Adventist church was ever heard of Jesus said:
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18
What rock was he speaking of?
He asked the disciples "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 16:13-17
The revelation that Jesus is the Son of God is the rock that the church is built on.
The body of believers, those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God, is the Church. Colossians 1:24 says: "I now rejoice in my sufferings for you and fill up my flesh, what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church."
The church is not a denomination, it is not a building, it is the body of believers in this world that are called to preach the gospel.
Why don't all churches agree on doctrine?
Because we are not perfect-yet. 1Corinthians 12:"But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased." 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 "Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, administrators, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way."
Unification of brothers means that we all love and encourage eachother and the Holy Spirit leads us individually. Any church that tells you how to interpret the Bible ignores this teaching. We are led by the Spirit, not man.
My prayer is that you will find a church home that will edify you and strengthen your walk with God and help you to fulfill God's individual purpose for your life. Pray for His leading and He will guide you to the church that will best suit His need to further the kingdom. |
