| At the beginning build as you usually would but dont go overboard with the barracks. maybe build two as you will need initial protection. always have a nice group of marines, firebats, and medics. research the stim and the range and set up a nice defense but dont turtle yourself. so bunkers wont be needed. try and advance quickly to siege tanks because they will be your primary defense while you build up you wraith army. while doing this build SCVs. dont stop building SCVs until you have sufficient money and gas for your wraiths. by now you should have at least two SCVs on each gas geyser and a lot of mineral gatherers. you should always be scouting as well to make sure you wont have to change your strategy in the middle of the game. now you should make an expansion. send a few SCVs with a few marines and a couple of tanks. start building your base like you did the first one with at least a barracks for fast protection. Now build six starports in a rectangular fashion with the last two having the extension because youll need science vessels. research the upgrades and start pumping out wraiths. by now you should have a comfortable amount of gas and minerals. now you have to watch your supply. have maybe two SCVs be building supply depots while you are making you wraiths. you should also build two armories and upgrade the wraiths. and build a science facility as well for the level 2 & 3 upgrades and the science vessels. youll probably get up to about four or five groups of 12 wraiths before your supply runs out. you may want to try and attack with your tanks or marines so you can get more but that is risky. it is surprising how fast wraiths disappear in an attack.when you have a sufficient amount, scout the enemies base to make sure you havent wasted your time. you should also research the science vessels abilities especially if the enemy is protoss because the emp shockwave is great against scouts and carrriers which can rip wraiths to shreds. make sure you have all your wraiths hot keyed as well as your vessels. if the coast is clear, make you move. wraiths are very flexible. dont be afraid to divide them. send a few into their mineral patch but dont attack one miner. just have them move into that area and they will kill all the miners in seconds. get rid of detection first and then any annoying units then focus the buildings. if you are facing zerg, your opponent will most likely have all his overlords in a group near the back of his base. send all your wraiths in and watch the bloodshed. you can also use irradiate which works well. if the enemy didnt know about your plans before hand, this can be very effective. because most likely they wont have turrets surrounding your expansion and all within their base like some people. thats why it is good to expand. this strat takes practice and works best in a team game where one of your teammates can watch your back. but it will work well in a one on one game also just make sure you have alternate forms of defense. this strat doesnt use all the strengths of the terran but wraiths are very often overlooked and can be a very powerful tool. |
