| Mass infantry>> You can usually tell if a terran is using this strategy scouting early in the game, and finding him with three or four barracks but none or few marines. protoss- You should try to get DTs fast as they will shred through infantry. If you find him getting detection fast, then still get DTs, just not as much, and also, use the DTs in combination with zealots and dragoons. You should have more zealots than dragoons except when he going mass firebats; in that case get more or all dragoons. You should also be putting your own plan into action so that when he realizes that his strategy is not working, you will already have your main strategy ready to go. zerg- You should get lurkers fast and also use the lurkers with 'lings and hydras (more hydras if facing more firebats and more 'lings if facing marines). The lurkers will work extremely well when combined with your other units. Also, you could drop his base while you are engaged in combat somewhere else as it probably won't be well defended because of all the unit production he has going on. terran- Get tanks fast as his infantry won't even see your tanks by the time they are blown apart. Do not neglect building infantry. You must stay strong in the beginning to overcome his infantry until you can get tanks. tank rush>> You can tell if someone is doing this by their early refinery, few marines with only one barracks, an early factory. They will always have a weak early game; so, if you can, take them out very early. protoss- DT rushes work very well against this because of the terran's lack of units. Use zealots and only zealots against the tanks. zerg- lurkers, once again will work well, but use only zerglings against the tanks. Get air fast once you are confident that you can overcome all of his tank offenses. terran- Build infantry kill him fast. If he is smart he will have infantry of his own (see mass infantry above). But usually, he will have only a bunker or two. Get tanks fast, though, too. Never forget to tech up. mass vultures>> This is not really used much except a few times on protoss (it's not really that effective). The idea is to use the speed and range of the vultures to hastle the slower units in the beginning (like zealots) and to use their spider mine capability to contain you in your base early on. protoss- You should build one or two cannons at your entrance and by your minerals to kill any nearby mines and to prevent vultures from wreaking havoc on your base. Offensive wise, try to get a DT drop going fast because he probably won't be well prepared for it. If that is not your choice then get dragoons and zealots (a lot of each) and observers to kill any spider mines. When you get to his base, and he still has just vultures, he will die because vultures have weak weapons and weak armor. zerg- To get rid of mines use overlords and hydras. To kill vultures use zerglings. Try to contain him in his base with lurkers, and then just keep sending back-up units to help. terran- Get around three tanks (with siege mode) for defense. To get rid of spider mines, use a comsat (preferrably a sci vessel) and marines and medics. Just tank push to his base, and he'll be through. mass wraiths>> This is easy to tell if someone is doing this. Just look for fast starports you can expect it. Their early game will be extremely weak because it is hard to control the early game, and still try to build up your wraiths for the late game at the same time. protoss- Be very aggressive throughout the entire game, keep on attacking him to slow him down. If he makes it to wraiths, you should have an expansion going. With your surplus of minerals, build cannons throughout your base and the map. Build cannon outposts around the map (build a whole line across if you want). A sneaky idea is to build a whole wall going around the outside of his base, so that he doesn't know that they are there until he sends his wraiths out. The idea is to kill all his wraiths with cannons before they can even reach your base (which also has cannons). zerg- Be aggressive and keep attacking. Use defilers and hydras when confronting wraiths. Use the dark swarm ability and put your hydras under it. Have spore colonies at your bases and expansions, and have some hydras and defilers at your base for defense. terran- Build turrets similar to the way described to build cannons for protoss above. Use goliaths with missile upgrade. Be aggressive early on. mass battlecruisers Someone will do this if they have multiple, early starports and science facilities with the air add-on. Their early game may be weak. protoss- Attack early, and if he makes it to BCs, use templar, dragoons, and scouts (upgraded) to take them down. Cannons will slow BCs down but will not totally stop them. zerg- Use scourge combined with the defiler's plague ability. Also, use dark swarm with hydras. terran- Wraiths and valkyries will work well against BCs, you just have to have a lot. Use ghosts' lockdown and then use infantry and air to destroy the BCs. he's got the middle>> If you find that the terran has a base or outpost set up in the middle, there are some things you can do to overcome it. First, get a drop or air attack ready for his base. Then, get the appropriate units that will counter act his barricade. With protoss use reavers, templar, zealots, and dragoons, and get a lot. With zerg get defilers, hydras, zerglings, and a lot of guardians. With terran get tanks, marines, medics, and ghosts. Now, send your drop to their base. Once it starts doing damage, he will send some units from his barriade to help. When that starts to happen, send your main force out through his barriade, and destroy it. If you can, attack his barricade from multiple directions. |
