***INSPECTING  URANUS***

On  January 24 , 1986 , Voyager 2 passed  within  50,000 miles  of  the  cloud  tops  of Uranus , sending  back  the  first  detailed  pictures  of  the  planet's  rings  and  moons . In this artist's impression , the bowl-shaped  radio  antenna  of  Voyager 2  is  pointing  towards  earth . A  platform  with  most  of  scientific  instruments  is on the  right  hand  side , and  the  television  camera  are  silhouetted  against  the  planet .
