WorldMysteries Purpose and Objectives Today begins the Life-cycle of the WorldMysteries web site. You should read this article with the intention of gaining an insight into the goals of the creators of the site. This will assist you in becoming a 'viable member of the group and will contribute to the benefits we can all derive from the site. In fact, the survival of WorldMysteries depends on this. We especially hope to draw into the fold those of you who are new to this field of inquiry. Are you satisfied with what you were taught in school concerning the great mysteries of the world, or do you feel a kind of hunger that gnaws at you from time to time? When you hear others laughing about things they've read or heard, do you hear a quiet voice in your heart telling you not to accept their opinions as fact without looking into it yourself? Do you feel a need for discovery? Does it thrill you to think there may be more to this world than meets the eye? Then this may be a place for you. Understand that your search will be difficult. There will be those who will try to dissuade you from your journey. You should listen to them and draw upon their knowledge and experience, but don't let them put an end to your dreams. The "grand purpose" of the site is three-fold: to provide a map in the form of documentation of factual data that can be used to research 'exotic' material, as well as through articles specifically targeted to whet your appetite for "The Great Mystery"; to be a jumping-off point for related material on the web through links and other resources; and to be a 'safe' place to reasonably discuss subject matter oft-times derided by others. The site will present material related to, but not limited to: pyramids, crop circles, light formations and orbs, UFO's, and unexplained or difficult to explain phenomena. We will attempt to present this material in a way that allows you to examine it further based on your own interest level. You should be aware that we subscribe to no specific belief system and that we have no lofty goals. If in doing this we somehow contribute to bringing a higher level of credibility to this field of research, then so be it, but we are not searching for that. Our goal is to serve you, the seeker. The staff of WorldMysteries is composed of intelligent, inquisitive people. We are not fanatics or doomsayers or cultists or conspirators. If you seek any of those, you're in the wrong place. We do not seek an absolute Truth, for that precludes continuing personal growth. If you believe otherwise, you may not enjoy this site. Rather, we believe that truth is malleable...infinite...ever changing, as knowledge and wisdom are gained through searching and introspection. We believe in the search for knowledge using scientific methodology. We also believe in experiential truth, the kind of truth that comes from personal growth through discovery or revelation. We believe that mainstream science could be doing more to study subject matter that is experiential and/or anecdotal in nature. On the other hand, does this mean this sort of thing belongs in scientific circles alone? Of course not...there are experiences that seem to go beyond the current level of our accepted science, or appear to twist the laws of physics, as we understand them. Science is itself a tool. Unfortunately, science has the instruments and the training to resolve many of the issues that are presented here. We can only go so far on our own and we believe there needs to be a partnership formed between scientists and those seekers who are following a different path to truth. Over time, we will post factual information on the site. You can use this to become grounded in the facts before delving into the mystery. Already posted are the dimensions, and other interesting data, concerning the Great Pyramid in Egypt. Due to the sheer volume of available data of this sort, we will need to set some limits. This will provide you with the opportunity to do your own spelunking. After all, if we gave you all of the answers, what fun would it be? If you wish, you may submit via email, your own facts or articles for posting on our site. However, be aware that anything you submit becomes the sole property of WorldMysteries. We reserve the right to post or not post entirely upon our own discretion. You will not be credited for, or receive payment for your contribution, except for posting your name with your article if it's accepted verbatim, and any material you submit may be edited or mixed with existing data anywhere on the site to provide a clearer picture to those visiting the site. We do not want to be accused of plagiarism, so please consider this before submitting. There is also a forum available, to be used for sharing your ideas. This was approached with some trepidation, as there are those that misuse this sort of thing. It is not our intention to provide a soapbox for those wishing to slam others. There are many other forums where you can go to spout off. We will not tolerate personal attacks of any nature, including against another's beliefs, age, or intelligence. Postings of this type will be deleted immediately. This site is open to seekers of all ages...please be mindful of this. Beyond this, any reasonable discussion, argument, or sharing of data related to the subject matter, is permitted. We strongly encourage you not to use your real name on the forum, nor provide your email address, unless you are comfortable doing so. We believe in playing it safe on the World Wide Web. Welcome to our site and good luck in your search for knowledge.
Sincerely, The WorldMysteries Hosts
