Preface

My notes have turned into an anthology, and I hadn't realized how long winded I would become. A medal will be given for the attention span of anyone who wants to read the entire report.

This won't be a conventional report. My favorite disciplines are the twosomes - pair skating and ice dancing, particularly ice dancing. So, most of my attention and practice session attendance has been placed there. Someone commented to me at Worlds, 'Wow! You really like to root for the underdogs!' I guess that holds some truth as I find many skaters of any placement or ranking interesting. I have tried to comment on all of the skaters and teams, as I did enjoy elements of them all. But, I suppose some of my favorites get in the way of this goal sometimes. I even took pictures of everyone, but it was very random which pictures happened to turn out. Only twenty percent of the shots I took remotely turned out.

The Petrova and Tikhonov fans know I don't take myself too seriously when I write, so I hope something unique or interesting can be found here. Maybe even a glimpse at my dry humor can be found.

My jump recognition is only slowly emerging. I'm getting more comfortable with the: axel, lutz, flip, loop. I'm totally lost when it comes to the salchow and toe loop, done in combination or individually. I have tried to comment on some other skating elements as well. At times, you might find it turn into a fashion review.

The names of the fans I met have been changed to protect the innocent.

Well, I hope the readers can get the gist of what the Worlds experience is like. Some words of caution: Once you attend that first event, you will likely desire to go again.
