This program was developed for our northern youth where opportunities for exposure to arts, culture and music are almost nonexistent. Funding cutbacks in our education system hit our rural schools, with their low population, the hardest. Art, music and drama were cut from the high school curriculum years ago. This resulted in our youth no longer having a voice of expression. As we grow from the child to the young adult many confusing things happen that cannot be explained to communicate with the spoken language. This is where art, music and theatre can be the tool of communication that makes the difference in how one perceives their world.
Alisha Lemon (seen here displaying some of her work), is the library Work Experience student, and is a very talented young lady taking part in the Want to Reach Program.
