Doubles

to Main Page
Well, hopefully you've already gone out and dueled, and learned a few
things. If you haven't, I suggest you do so before we start this section,
because it gets pretty complicated.
Now, to begin, what are doubles? You may have noticed, in a duel, you
sometimes get an extra turn to attack your enemy. This is called a double.
What are doubles caused by? Lots of things, mainly connection and lag.
Let's talk about connection really quick. Everybody has a connection, and
everyone has different speeds of connection. The higher the speed, the
faster you will be on WoS. To check your connection speed, go to:
http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/
It will tell you your KBPS and how fast your local connection is in
comparison to T1.
What is all this mumbo jumbo about T1 and connection? Well, here's a list
of different types of conns (connections) you'll hear about on WoS:
Dial Up
56K
Cable
T1 and up
There are many other types of connection speeds, but those are the most
common. That list is more or less in order of speed, but some exemptions
apply. For example, Cable in my area is faster than T1. In some areas this
could be different, though. Connection speeds and etc. are something
you'll pick up in time.
So what do these things have to do with doubles? Good question. Really,
conn doesn't have much to do with doubles. I just thought I'd teach you
about different kinds now because it seemed like a good opportunity. Now,
let's look at a description of doubles:
Think of a double as just an extra turn. Now, this extra turn starts out
with a certain person. Once this person uses this extra turn, then the
other player gets this extra turn. That's the best way to explain doubles.
But to fully understand, you need to go out and find out yourself. So
here's your next task. Go out, keep dueling, and try to keep an eye out
for those tricky doubles. And always, have fun with it! |
