HEBREWS HOMEWORK
DUE WED OCT 8 Hebrews 2:4-11
LADIES: THIS WED, OCT 8 IS THELAST WEEK TO BRING VISITORS
UNTIL THE CHRISTMAS TEA!!! Thanks for considering this!
- What
new insight did you have re: angels from this week’s lecture (Oct 1)? List
one thing. Do you think this
insight is necessary/helpful to daily life? Why/Why not? What do you believe is the #1
misconception most unbelievers have re: angels? Most believers?
Read 2:4-11 carefully
and prayerfully.
- What
do you think is the author’s point in 2:5? (state it simply)..Do you think
2:6-8 (quoted from Ps 8) refers to mankind or to Jesus? How is the key to
this question located at the end of v. 8?
- From
2:8-9..Has the name “Jesus” been used in Hebrews before this verse? Why do
you think the author uses it now? Cite at least two phrases that speak of
: a. the Divinity of Christ (Heb chapter 1) and b. the Humanity of Christ
(Heb chapter 2)
Why
do you think each of these aspects are important?
- From
vs 2:8-9, how can we understand things “not” presently being subject to
Him, yet that He is now “crowned with glory and honor?”
- What
does 2:9 mean to you personally? Be specific. Can you think of a personal area of struggle in which you
need to “see Jesus?” List here for prayer/commitment.
- What
do you think vs. 10 means when it says, it was “fitting” that God should
bring Jesus to suffering? (wow!)
Look up Isaiah 53:10 and write down how this ties in.
What do you think it means that Christ was “made perfect”
through suffering? Wasn’t He already perfect in nature?
Extra time? (heehee) Spend a
morning quiet time meditating on 2:10-11 and Isa 53 and how they tie together.
Write a simple “hymn” or verse of thanks to God for His Gift of Suffering for
us.
