Organizational meeting - Women On Wheels

July 17, 1999

Our July meeting was fun and fruitful... Two more of our members , who until now were just voices on the telephone , Joanne and Elaine , joined us and also Chris and her husband Perry. We were all happy to welcome them to our ever expanding group.

We discussed a number of things and came to some decisions:
We discussed yearly chapter dues and voted to collect $ 20.00 per member , per year.. This would cover $4.00 for a patch, $7.00 for the newsletter, and the remainder for misc. things like a scrapbook and other costs that may come up.
Chris suggested a scrapbook in addition to our website as all of us don't have access to the internet and she also suggested we might need it for some future activity.. We all agreed and Suzanne will be creating the scrapbook... Any pictures you want to add to the scrapbook or to the internet site please bring them to the next meeting or activity.
We also looked at and talked about some ideas for a patch. Sue and Elaine are going to see about submitting some ideas.. Lynda came up with a couple of ideas with input from Suzanne.. Suzanne may come up with something also if time permits.
Anyone who wants to submit a patch is encouraged to do so. The design should include the Women On Wheels text logo, a redtailed hawk , our name "RED HAWK RIDERS" and Northeast , Illinois , perhapes with the year of establishment. eg: est. 1999
The safety Do's and Don'ts that were sent by Debby were passed around at the meeting. She hopes to have copies for all of us at the next meeting. These guidelines should help all of us ride safer as a group.
Our charter forms are in the mail . Now it's just a matter of waiting..
EVENTS
July 25th- Sunday: Picnic at Starved Rock
For those of you who are going to Starved Rock , I hope to have meeting time and place as soon as I hear from Debby.
August 15th-Sunday: Bristol Renaissance Faire
The faire is open at 10AM to 7 PM (rain or shine) The cost at the door with a 2dollar coupon is $12.95 for adults and $6.50 for children ages 5 to 12. If you wish to go you can purchase discounted tickets at Cub Foods.

August 22nd-Sunday: Bikers Against Cancer
We will be meeting across the street from Woodstock Harley (Rt 47) at 8:30 AM .. The run starts at 9 AM. If you need more information please call anyone on our mailing/phone list.
Our next meeting will be Saturday August 21st at Keifs Reef (See the front page for details).
