Little Girls

We welcome our newest member, Debi Horner, and her friend Jim. We are looking forward to many good times and good rides with them.
Debi lives in Wonder Lake and she has already volunteered to be part of the Schedule Committee.

Meeting of October 21, 2000

The October meeting was well attended. Thanks to all for your participation. Sue McDonald, Martha Alexander, Carrie Kozell, Maureen Shreeves, Suzanne Palm, Jennifer Moore, Maxine Smith, Debby Krause, Monica Rice, Marge Theissen and our newest member, Debi Horner. Debi comes to us from Wonder Lake and she brought Jim with her. She has already volunteered to help Marge and Dave plan our schedule for next riding season. Welcome to the both of you. We're happy to have you.

The meeting began at 9AM.

Topics of discussion:

  • 1. Mileage contest/survey
  • 2. Toys for Tots - McHenry
  • 3. Heart Dance - HOG
  • 4. Winter meeting time
  • 5. New ride committee
  • 6. Recruiting cards

Mileage Contest/Survey
  • The WOW National Contest/Survey ends October 31 and the forms must be in to WOW by November 15th. If you haven't sent one in yet, please get a member or motorcycle dealer to confirm you mileage and send it in.
    Winter Meeting Time
With the weather getting colder and rides either being non-existant or short we will be going back to our winter time of 10 AM. Meeting day and location remain the same: the third Saturday of the month at Colonial Cafe. Pass the word.
    Toys for Tots Parade

We have been asked to participate in the McHenry Toys for Tots Parade as a group by the McHenry Jaycees.

A number of you have signed up tentatively to ride. I've checked the Farmers Almanac and they predict clear and cool. If they are correct, we should have a good day for the parade. Naomi, the parade coordinator will call me on the 18th to confirm the number of riders. Please, please call me and let me know what your intentions are. This is a good place to start to get our name out there. A good showing would be beneficial to the group.

I will attempt to create some banners for us to display. We will not go with a theme but please plan to decorate your motorcycles for Christmas.

The parade is on November 19th. Meet at 10:00a.m. at the Remax at Rt. 31 & Kane Ave in McHenry.

Each rider is to bring a new, unwrapped toy. If you would like, you can also bring a nonperishable food item as they will also be collecting for the food pantry. The food is in addition to the toy and not required.

    HOG Heart Dance

The McHenry Hog Chapter is holding their annual Heart Dance on February 10, 2001.
The dance benefits the Heart Association. The dance will be held at the Holiday Inn , Crystal Lake. Located on Rt 31 and Three Oaks Rd.. It starts at 7 PM and costs a mere $5.00 per person. You can get special dinners and rooms at the Holiday Inn if you choose to spend the night. The number at the Holiday Inn is 815-477-7000.
There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. You can purchase tickets from any HOG member or at the door.

Don't miss this event. You can't get a better night out and you will be benefitting a good cause.

For more information call Greg Born at 847-836-6084

Schedule Committee A committee was formed to plan a ride schedule for next riding season. The committee will be headed up by Dave Theissen. Dave has much riding experience and a knowledge of the area. Committee members are Marge Theissen, Maureen Shreeves, and Debi Horner. The committee will be using the ride suggestions that were made at the September meeting. If you have suggestions or concerns please contact Dave at 815-337-2883.

I would personally like to thank Dave and the rest of the committee members for taking on this task. I believe it will make for a much better riding season for us.

    Recruiting Cards

It was suggested that we have cards to hand out to prospective members and other interested parties. It was also suggested the cards would have a blank place on for members to add their names and the card would also have our meeting time and place. Monica Rice will check in to the cost of printing generic cards that can be used by all of the members.
