On September 16th Massachusetts Primary elections will be held across the state. At the top of the Democratic ballot will be the race for U.S. Senate between challenger Ed O'Reilly and incumbent Senator John Kerry.
O'Reilly has called on the Kerry campaign to hold a series of debates. No firm reply has been received.
For the democratic process to be effective, debates among candidates are needed so voters can hear their views and positions. This is the first Democratic Primary contest for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts since 1984. Any voter under 24 years of age has never seen this type of race; certainly debates among these two candidates would be in order.
The Kerry campaign should respond to O'Reilly's request for debates.
