For Inventor involved parts the min. I would suggest is 512Mb. If you are doing anytime of assembly work then 1 Gigabyte min. The trend in Inventor so far has been with each major release you neeed to get the MOST power in Ram - CPU - Video your budget can handle.
But I still stand by my suggestions, even for MDT. All of the hardware we now purchase is
P4's 2+ Ghz, 1 Gbyte of Ram
nVidia's Quadro 4 700XGL or better with 64 Mbytes Ram.
I still prefer and specify Win2000 Pro at SP3 but a lot of others users here suggest WinXP Pro.

Make the Page File Max and Min the same size. That way it doesn't have to dynamically create it each time and won't fragment your harddrive all the time. I generally defrag before setting it.
Is MDT2004 much faster than MDT6 using the hardware acceleration?

I have been running several 1.2GHz AMD with an ASUS A7V for years withoutspecial problems. There was one thing that caused serious troubles at the beginning, it was
the weak power supply for the AGP port. Nvidia chips need lot of power, which the A7V wasn't able to deliver, and the whole PC just froze after minutes or hours of use. We put a very heavy power supply (450W) into the
box, and everything was OK.
There was another problem 1 yr later, when we got series of BSOD, and
finally noticed that the cpu cooler was going to die. We put in a new,
enhanced one and the boxes are still running after 3yrs of heavy use. Leo Laimer Apr/12/03
