Q: How do I position a workpoint Tangent on a Cylinder (3511)
A: You will first need to place a
workplane tangent to your cylinder. See MDT
FAQ 2204 for this method. Once the workplane is placed, then place
your workpoint on the workplane. Now you will need to dimension it so it
is at the location where the plane touches the cylinder. To do this,
use ampardim and select the point and then the top/bottom edge of the cylinder
(see image below). Place the dimension towards the top and it dimensions
from the circle's center to the workpoint. Enter a zero value and the point
is now tangent. To position the point along the axis of the cylinder, repeat
the same dimension picks as before but this time dimension to the right/left
and enter value offset from the top/bottom.
