Mess in the file system?

When I develop a model of a product I use a coordinated numbering system
tied to a database as most companies do. In MDT I have a single,
drawing/model/Assembly/rendering/construction drawings.
This is all done in a single file, in IV you have a whole cluster of files
to coordinate let along tracking shared parts, forbid moving a part file
into another directory, unintellegible file names, huge project files, try
setting up a legacy archive with IV without corrupting other
projects,............................I'm sorry,...I ramble.
IMO IV has a long way to go to be mature enough for the
design/development/manufacturing process. You may be able to struggle
through in most cases but the constant struggle to do real world
manufacturing using solely IV is still out on the horizon.

I agree 100%. It is big problem.
Many companies avoid Inventor because of the this.

Where can I purchase MS-DOS? Where can I purchase MDT? How does the file structure of other Windows based MCAD software like Solidworks, Solidedge, Wildfire, differ from Inventor file structure?

Hi All, I have been using IV (now version 6) for some years. IV is IMHO a super 3D-CAD made practically unusable by the almost unbelievable antics of Autocad. (Although having bought e.g. IV6 fully legally, I was subject to treatment by Autodesk as if I were a criminal just waiting to cheat, lie and steal.) Having got that off my chest, I still use this program regularly in local configuration only for early constructive and later productive work with very good results. A middle-size company with whom I have a good relationship has also bought IV6 (with MTD6) after having used ACAD for years and in spite of the many pitfalls caused by Autodesk's 'Security-processes' they use IV and not MDT. Their comments about MDT to me are not printable here.

Hi bobcou06?
Give me command line + erase window and crossing + move + hundreds of other stuff which
professional designer can not leave without and I still will think very hard to switch to IV or VI or whatever it's out there.
